Episode 4 Series 1: Reputation Matters with Clinton Bown & Brad Sewell

Today's guest is a true gentleman – the kind of gentleman you would follow into battle. Brad Sewell is a dual-premiership player, club best and fairest winner and life member of the Hawthorn Football Club.

Brad’s hard work and reputation earned him enormous respect, both on and off the field. After retiring, Brad moved into the media with Channel 7 and ABC Radio, helped establish the Australian Rules Football College in 2016 and was very active on the board of the AFLPA.

His trademark work ethic, authenticity and inquisitive nature have provided some interesting opportunities away from the footy field, previously a board member with Zadee’s Rainbow Foundation and Ladder, currently a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and investment partner in Australia’s leading crypto asset investment firm Apollo Crypto.

In this episode of Reputation Matters, host Clinton Bown chats candidly with Sewell about life; everything from how he approached sport as a professional and how that has (or hasn’t) changed in a post-football career, serious head injuries and CTE in contact sport, to personal brand and working in the crypto world in 2024.

What to expect in this episode:

(02:36): brand vs reputation

(10.43): managing reputation and authenticity

(18.24): life in crypto

(23.00): serious head injuries, CTE and the AFL response
