Dr. Lyndsey Tucker - Doctor of Acupuncture ,
Sound healing Practitioner, Reiki Master
Dr. Tucker is a Doctor of Acupuncture in Alberta Canada. She holds two 4 year diplomas in Acupuncture and Dr. TCM. In addition to her base training she has attended continuing education classes through the Acutonics Institute of Integrated Medicine in Sound healing, Low FODMAP diet training through Monash University in Australia as well as focusing on expanding her dietary therapy knowledge with TCM Herbs and foods through CEU credits.
Dr. Tucker has a particular interest in women's health, focusing on Non fertility based menstrual health. She believes you deserve healthy happy menstrual health regardless of your desires to conceive a child. Dr. Lyndsey noticed there was a lack of support for people who did not want to have children and that the barriers of access to necessary health care due to this lack of interest was a problem that needed to be addressed.
Dr. Lyndsey believes in the movement to redefine menstrual health for all menstruating individuals. The Global Menstrual Collective is moving to define menstrual health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in relation to the menstrual cycle. About Our Guest:
Leah Shirton is a trauma informed yoga instructor. "Through years of struggling with pelvic pain and endometriosis, it was often proven to me that most fitness and exercise would only trigger my pain and symptoms. I was skeptical of giving yoga a try the first time, but in 2012 while living in Key West, Florida, I decided to make an attempt. Prior to attending this class, I had little hope of connecting with the practice in the way I did. But during my time on my mat, I witnessed my body prove to me, pose after pose, what it was capable of. I knew I had to make yoga a part of my life and share it with other people, especially women like me dealing with chronic pain. Fast forward to May 2020; I graduated my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program and started teaching regularly in studios and virtually. Since then, I have increased my training and become a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certified in Trauma-Informed Yoga + Yoga for Women's Health. I love teaching my students the value of this practice not only for a strong mind/body connection and deeper body awareness, but as a therapeutic modality to ease the symptoms and pain of pelvic health issues."

In recognition of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, I felt called to share my journey with loss and grief. This episode is not recorded behind a professional mic because I had too much emotion to sit still at my desk to record. They have guided the teaching I share with you all so that you have the tools I didn't when I started my fertility journey.I release this episode on the one year anniversary of the death of my daughter. She broke me open and the grief nearly swallowed me whole, but from the ashes a new version of the woman I am today emerged. The practice has evolved as well into a more education focused offering. Join me and Dr. Ryan Bailey for a conversation about the importance of the pelvic floor, its role in exercise and life and how we can care for it best.
About Our Guest:
Dr. Ryan Bailey loves working with women to demystify the taboo topics of the “down there.” Ever since she was able to get a new mom to walk again [literally], 14 years ago, the pelvic floor became her favorite topic, especially when related to pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Her belief is the pelvic floor is your center, influencing your whole body and being influenced by your whole body; so when you are experiencing pelvic floor issues, it takes a whole body approach to heal, restore and rebuild. Dr. Bailey’s philosophy is you are the expert of your body and she is your guide on how to find the clues throughout your body as to how to heal the pelvic floor problems you are experiencing. She brings a modern twist to healing by using these clues in addition to cycle syncing, body rolling, tissue nourishment and lifestyle mindfulness for restoration of function.
Dr. Bailey earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of New England, and after extensive (and continued training) became a Board Certified Women’s Health Physical Therapist and Prenatal and Postpartum Exercise Specialist with training in Pilates. She opened her practice, Expecting Pelvic Health in 2015 after having her daughter and seeing first hand the gap in pregnancy and postpartum healing in the medical system. She strives to educate as may women as she can through her social media and blog posts, because she believes you deserve to understand the most intimate parts of your body. Dr. Bailey wants you to be confident when it comes to pelvic floor health not only for today but for all the tomorrow’s to come, feeling strong to move and play without worrying about peeing your pants, pelvic pressure or pain.
