God's action in bringing the Israelites out of Egypt showed His great desire to dwell among and protect them, as a good Father wants to do for His children. God wants to live in our hearts, guide us, and direct our steps.
Our peace is our responsibility, and we must protect it at all costs, place healthy boundaries or borders, and follow the peace and stillness of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide us, whisper to us, and protect us as long as we do not rebel against God, repent of our sins, and seek trustworthy guidance and healing from the Helper.
Follow Us in this episode and journey to wholeness, surrounded by transformational peace and truth. He is waiting!

Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler - Tammy Toney-Butler's Personal Testimony of Faith and Freedom from Childhood Trauma
play

My testimony of faith and freedom found in Christ. I was transformed by His marvelous light and set free. Freedom from childhood rape, freedom from the loss of a father through suicide as a teenager, freedom from food addiction, and freedom from the trauma cascade of shame, fear, regret, self-loathing, guilt, and inability to sleep. You can be set free, too.
I found hope in Christ. I am no longer drowning from the weight of the trauma. The shame, fear, regret, self-loathing, self-sabotage, imposter syndrome, negative self-talk, and the "icky" are all gone, replaced with a peace I have never known, a love unlike anything ever experienced.
My transformative healing journey as a survivor of child sex trafficking began several years ago, and I am still working on the "junk in my trunk." Freedom, peace, empowering grace, and healing are all found in Jesus. You can be set free to live a life of joy and hope. I have found the answer, the way.
Walk with me as we heal together, process the hurt together, and break free into who we were always supposed to be before that day when it all changed and the "icky" came to try to destroy us, our God-given purpose for living.
I refused to be broken and consumed by the darkness; instead, I fought to find the light. Keep fighting, believing, and trusting; it happened to me and can happen to you.
I am a sinner, set free by God's mercy and grace.
Join me, join the movement of transformative healing, and step into a life-producing destiny.
Blessings,
Tammy Toney-Butler

As Christians, we are taught to love others as ourselves, forgive those who persecute us, pray for them, and walk in the light of God’s Word. As in the time of the Egyptians when they were being brought out of bondage and into the Promised Land. Leaving the oppressive land and abuse did not mean they would be free of its negative influence. False pagan worship was everywhere, and evil was still present in the world. God promised if they would rely on Him and not rebel against His Word, then they would be protected and prosper.
We only need to look at Exodus 23:1-9, Exodus 22:21, and Exodus 23:20-33 to see what God’s Word says about everything. Despite the laws, the Ten Commandments, and the Great Commandments, evil persists even today. The question plaguing all of us today is this one. How do we live in such a dark world and not conform to the ways of the darkness?
Environment molds and shapes us, as in the days of slavery, both with the Egyptians and in the slavery of today that permeates society. The poor are still oppressed by the rich, and the hatred of racism still permeates the hearts of so many who endured those atrocious times.
Hate breeds hate. Seeds of hate planted in us by parents who also had seeds of hate sown into them by their parents. Generation after generation hating on others, pouring out confusion and strife instead of peace and joy as God’s Word tells us.
We can leave an environment of hate, hateful words, or actions by another, but how do we let go of the residue of hate that sprouted up in our hearts, actions, and deeds and threatens to infect another generation?
How do you let go of the pain, sorrow, grief, regret, and anger attached to hate crimes? Racism? Marginalization? How do you guard your heart against the pollution of this world and sow seeds of hope, joy, and peace despite your history of being persecuted, exploited, victimized, and bullied?
How do we get Egypt (captivity) out of the people ( seek freedom)? This is the question because to serve God in the capacity He seeks and cultivate a garden of hope and healing, we must have a purified heart, purged of inequity and hate.
The True Gospel speaks of love, mercy, and loving thy neighbor as thyself. We, after all, are all foreigners, immigrants, and bound under the law of Moses.
Let’s Explore Exodus further. See what God’s Word says about it all in this episode of Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler.

(Trigger Warning: Subject matter may cause a myriad of emotions and lead to unease).
Do you feel guilty about a decision that may have hurt another, cost them their life, or cost you your peace?
A piece of you died with that decision. We must find our way by looking at God's Truth; although difficult to hear at times, as a Father, He corrects His children. We must listen and obey, for He gives us abundant life and freedom from sin.
Today's readings examine Proverbs 9, 2 Peter 2, and 2 Corinthians 5 for His Truth.
Reflect on His goodness and mercy as you navigate the seasons of loss.
Loss of a child through abortion, adoption, losing custody, or maybe the loss of your inner child.
Follow along as Tammy Toney-Butler, a survivor of child sex trafficking and loss of father to suicide as a teenager, helps you navigate the darkness, reflect on His goodness and mercy, and find your way to the Light.

Being delivered out of bondage can be messy work. After all, people can become comfortable in the uncomfortable, dirty truth of their current circumstances. Abusive relationships, addiction, poverty, marginalization, oppression, and periods of drought and famine-spiritual and physical.
Change is hard. Change can result in more work, pain, and periods of drought as you overcome the darkness and seek the light. Hope, joy, peace, and provision are found on the other side of that mountain of bondage.
Seek Christ, the Answer, the Healer. I did and have never been the same.
We will dive into Exodus 5 and Luke 9. Let God's promises see us through these challenging, dark times with a fresh perspective of gratitude, hope, and righteous glory.

Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler - "Why Not Me?"

As Christ followers, we often face adversity in childhood, adulthood, or both. We call out to God to save us and wonder where He was. We ask, "Why me, Lord?" Calling out to a Savior to save us, redeem us from bondage, yet see no deliverance.
Where was He when my child died? My spouse got cancer? When I was raped, beaten? Where was this God you speak of, for my experience was one of waiting on a Savior who was not responding to my calls for help?
We all have moments when we ask, "Why me?"
We find hope if we change our perspective by looking at those who were called to suffer for their faith, as evidenced by Hebrews 11.
Our perspective changes when we realize we were born into an evil, fallen world with parents making choices out of survival mode with foundations rooted in trauma. They were making choices that put us in situations where evil came to our door, into our homes, into our existence—repeating the behaviors of generations past.
Suffering is a part of the Christian walk; Jesus suffered for all of us. I am grateful I was not killed or did not kill anyone else when I was being victimized. I am glad I never lost my faith, was never entirely broken in spirit, and survived to show others the way to the Cross, Christ, and Freedom. I changed my perspective to "Why not me?" [Life Application Study Bible NIV].
Early Christians had to suffer, even die, for their faith, refusing to bow to an oppressor and renounce their faith in Christ. Our walk as a Christian will not be easy, but I can assure you that if you change your perspective, as I had to do, you will see the light in the darkness of the past. A glimmer of hope, shining forth through the raging storm you faced then or facing now.
Let this episode shine a ray of hope into your sea of darkness.

Content can be triggering for some, so please feel free to use discretion when viewing.
In today's episode of Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler, we discuss coping with trauma through food addiction. For years, I was driven to the refrigerator as a means of dealing with the aftermath of childhood trauma, i.e., shame, guilt, fear, regret, and self-loathing.
I used food as a soothing salve over a wound that never healed. I yo-yo dieted and went from one weight extreme to another until Christ delivered me from my spirit of gluttony and overindulgence. But wait, how did I get here? To this place of brokenness that led me to cope through a bag of chips, a foot-long sub, an entire pizza, a bag of cookies, a box of brownies, or a bottle or two of wine?
My journey is not a unique one, paved with misery and heartache, for so many suffer in silence like I did, never disclosing the root of the spiritual attack on my life that led me into bondage.
Today, we explore this and more as we dive into scripture and God's promises to heal, deliver, and foster a victorious life over the bondage of temptation.
Victory, freedom, hope, and an abundant life are possible when we surrender to Master Potter and become clay in His hands. Shaped, molded into daughters or sons of the King, instead of living as broken clay vessels, destroyed by satan himself disguised as a relative, ex-boyfriend, former colleague, parent, caregiver, faith leader, spiritual mother, or father.
Trauma shaped our formative years, but we have the victory now! As new creatures, a new birth, into a royal family, Abraham's seed and heirs to the promise.
Watch out; the Esthers, Deborahs, Davids, Ruths, Naomis, and Josephs are rising and taking their rightful place in the world.
Let's dive into this episode and become empowered, set free, and ultimately healed! Restored into our authentic self and in alignment with our purposeful path designated by God Almighty, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The Father of our precious Savior, Lord Jesus Christ.

In Today's episode of Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler, we will explore Ezekiel.
First-time guest Desiree Cubias, a mighty woman of God, will join us to reflect on this book of the Bible.
Ezekiel chose to obey God. For 22 years, he was a "Jewish Street Preacher" in Babylon. He spoke of God's judgment and salvation and called for the people to repent and obey God (Life Application Study Bible New International Version).
Ezekiel was a watchman and Prophet called by God during Israel's darkest times.
Ezekiel spoke of judgment but ended with a focus on hope. The love of God, mountain-moving faith, and God's power were central themes. God is sovereign, and His will be done.
God's judgment against idolatry, rebellion, and indifference to His Word are inevitable.
"Then you will know that I am Lord" was mentioned 65 times in Ezekiel.
Today's idols are money, sex, and power.
What strongholds have you bound? Want to be set free?
