Red Velvet Media ® - Ed Stasium ; Producer/Engineer/Mixer and much more!
play

04/07/17 • 63 min

Producer/engineer/mixer, Ed Stasium would rather just talk about the music when pressed for highlights of his career. Helping an artist clearly bring their vision to fruition while taking care to make sure the sound shines, Ed has always taken a role as "another member of the band" while leading a project to completion; in fact Ed has contributed guitar, vocals, keyboards, and percussion on every record he has worked on. He recorded, and was a member of countless garage bands during his formative years. While attending the School Of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Ed joined a local New Jersey group named "Brandywine. In 1972 he left the band and had a chance meeting with Tony Camillo and Tony Bongiovi, owners of Venture Sound Studios in Somerville, NJ. There he became involved with the building and wiring of the room and became a staff engineer where he received his first "hands on" experience in professional recording. Ed recorded and mixed his first gold single, Gladys Knight & the Pips' "Midnight Train to Georgia" at Venture Sound. In the three decades since, Ed has recorded and produced such diverse artists as The Ramones, Talking Heads, Julian Cope, Peter Wolf, Mick Jagger, Jeff Healey, Joan Jett, Marshall Crenshaw, Living Colour, Soul Asylum, The Smithereens, Motorhead, Baby Animals, Biohazard, The Reverend Horton Heat, Shirley Caesar, Misfits, The Coal Porters, Hoodoo Gurus, The Chesterfield Kings and The Empty Hearts. Today, Ed lives in Southern California. He enjoys listening to his 78, 45, and LP record collection while enthusing about the creative musical possibilities of working in the ever-changing analog/digital recording environment.

WILLIE NILE TAKES ANOTHER BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE! Veteran rock ’n’ roll troubadour pays tribute to his adopted hometown NYC! New York City has always inspired me,” states Willie Nile. “I’ve lived in Greenwich Village for many years now, and I love being there. The energy, the grit, and the mystery of it all fills my heart with wonder. Most of these songs were written in New York or were inspired by it in one way or another.”Nile is referring to New York at Night, his 13th studio album and the strongest manifestation to date of his deep affinity for his adopted hometown. The album’s 12 personally charged new originals exemplify the artist’s trademark mix of romance, idealism, humor, emotional urgency and a true believer’s passionate embrace of all things rock ’n’ roll. Nile’s abiding passion for his town animates such tunes as "New York Is Rockin'" and the album's title track. The collection also features some resonant meditations on love, specifically “A Little Bit of Love,” “The Last Time We Made Love,” and “Downtown Girl.” “I believe in love,” Nile asserts. “It’s what makes life worth living. Life is hard for everyone and this world would be a sorry place without it.His loyal fan base includes such admirers as Bruce Springsteen, with whom he’s guested onstage on multiple occasions, and Pete Townshend, who personally requested him as the opening act on the Who’s historic 1980 U.S. tour. The list of avowed Nile fans also includes Bono, Lou Reed, Ian Hunter, Graham Parker, Jim Jarmusch, Little Steven, and Lucinda Williams

If you see something about to happen, get it. Put the camera up and click. Two seconds later you won't have the chance again. You have to look for those stolen moments.Harold Sherrick is a career photographer, capturing musicians and concerts for almost 40 years. He has photographed everyone from Neil Young to Robert Smith, Dave Grohl to Joe Walsh, Tom Petty to Tori Amos. In Stolen Moments, Sherrick has included some of his most iconic photos, including rare images from his extensive body of work.Captured in “Stolen Moments,” among many others, are images of (in no particular order) Neil Young, Mick Jagger, Sting, Bono, Cheryl Crow, Quincy Jones, David Bowie, Tori Amos, June Carter Cash, John Entwistle, Joni Mitchell, Richie Havens, Iggy Pop, AC/DC, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Joss Stone, The Bee Gees, Joe Walsh, Ringo Starr, Dave Grohl, Ray Charles, John Fogerty, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Chrissie Hynde, Pete Townshend and, on the cover, Tom Petty. Many of the images are candids, hence the title, but Sherrick also included lots of portraits. This will be a fun show , please tune in as Harold has so many amazing stories of behind the pictures including his candid images with Broadcast news legend Walter Cronkite. Harold jokes he was raised in a News Room with His father, Herb Sherrick, a newspaperman who worked for the L.A. Herald-Examiner, referring to the city’s afternoon newspaper, the nation’s largest at the time (the paper folded in November 1989). Harold also recalls a time Bowling with Phil Spector. He started shooting for Phil in ’93, and the first big gig was at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in L.A. Phil came with the guys, and that was the first time I really had taken a bunch of different shots of him. Then I was just basically employed by him .
