Faith Crisis and the Enneagram
01/10/23 • 70 min
Melissa here.
As I’ve been working as a coach, I’ve noticed a lot of people struggling with their faith. Some people experience this as a crisis, others are experiencing new questions or doubts, others have family members who are having a painful experience in the church and it’s making church hard.
I’ve noticed some patterns when in comes to enneagram types, and going through some kind of faith shift.
I am seeing how our personality structure- or our ego- can help or hurt the process.
Today, with Jared’s help, I wanted to share what I’m noticing and help you be aware of what to look out for if you’re going through a faith crisis.
Today we go through all 9 types and discuss what things in church can potentially trigger an ego response, and ways your ego might automatically protect itself.
We also give some tips that can help you as you navigate a faith shift.
Thanks for listening!

Brenna Kimber (Enneagram 6): Seeking a New Kind of Safety
We have another interview for you today with my friend, Brenna Kimber.
Brenna is a six on the enneagram.
As a quick reminder an Enneagram six is called the loyal skeptic. They are responsible, group minded, and very loyal. They also tend to struggle with trusting themselves and other people, and this can cause some anxiety and hyper vigilance, and thinking of in terms of worst case scenarios.
Brenna is someone who has used the enneagram for deep inner work, and I’m so excited for you to learn from her today.
She talks about her search for safety, her pattern of externalizing authority, and learning to surrender and live her life without a plan and from a more embodied place.
As always, thanks for listening, and we hope you enjoy this episode.
