Warren Buffett once said that when he hires people, he looks for honesty first, then intelligence, and finally work ethic. And you know what? I couldn't agree more.

Honesty and character should be the most important qualities that any worker or CEO possesses. After all, you don't want someone who is clever and hardworking but also dishonest in your company. That's a recipe for disaster.

It's interesting to hear this from one of the world's richest men, who you might expect to value intelligence and work ethic above all else. But he's right. At a certain point in time, professional conduct and trustworthiness become the most important assets that anyone can have.

And that brings me to Justin Trudeau. If we were to subject his government, especially in recent months, to an ethical audit, would he pass? Would he be hired by Warren Buffett? I'm not sure if he has the intelligence needed, and I certainly don't think he has the work ethic. But most importantly, I think he is sorely lacking in ethics.

Children don't listen to what you say, they watch what you do. And the same goes for leaders. Everyone looks to see how the boss behaves, and in Trudeau's case, I don't think his leadership passes the ethical test.

Joining me for an in-depth interview is Manny Montenegrino, the CEO of Think Sharp and former lawyer to Prime Minister Stephen Harper to discuss Justin Trudeau's record as a leader and perform an ethical audit of sorts.

Special Guest: Manny Montenegrino.

2022 was the year of the trucker, wasn’t it?

They were the heroes who broke the official establishment narrative and proved that we didn’t all love the lockdowns and the forced vaccines. We didn't all love our civil liberties being violated and our democracy being truncated. And, no, even though government workers all got paid to stay home, real people still had to pay the bills. The truckers saved us. They captured the imagination of the world; they embarrassed Trudeau; he panicked and overplayed his hand, invoking martial law. The mask slipped; we saw the tyrant underneath the sociopathic smile.

The convoy was the greatest civil liberties campaign in a generation — and it was led, as George Orwell said it would be, by the working class.

But it almost wasn’t so. Because, you’ll recall, every part of the establishment, the entire regime, was told to fight the truckers. It’s hard to believe this now, but the CBC actually ran a bunch of stories about a trucker convoy — but claimed they were mad about driving conditions on British Columbia’s Coquihalla highway. From the very beginning, they were under marching orders: ignore the truckers; do not give them any coverage at all. And when that became impossible, their mission changed to smearing the truckers.

Tamars Lich was the newsmaker of the year at the heart of the event of the year, the freedom convoy. Yesterday she told me she was never approached by the CBC, not once — other than, towards the end, when a muckraker from the Fifth Estate asked her some bad faith questions for a “gotcha” story. But not a single reporter, not a single panel discussion, no one even bothered to talk to her. How is that even possible?

https://youtu.be/epLS3TZvcpc

Well, because it was a strategy; not an accident or an oversight. As you know the government literally put the mainstream media on the payroll. I mean, they did that years ago — the CBC has always been a creature of the government; the newspapers have been on the take for half a decade now; but even the TV and radio stations were getting huge subsidies, especially over the past two years. I mean, just a plain old $104 million dollar gift, in one single instance. How can you take $104 million from Trudeau and then report a “news” story about Trudeau, without disclosing that? That’s a form of corruption. And that’s just government money — not even Pfizer ad money. Frankly, that’s what Tucker Carlson talked about in his monologue on the last day he worked for Fox, before getting fired.

But I think the under-story of 2022 was the conspiracy to smear the truckers and keep the false unanimity about the lockdowns, it all failed because — of citizen journalism. The truckers were the greatest embarrassment Trudeau has ever faced in his career. And for some reason, they didn’t respond to his drama teacher's soliloquies. He can’t stand that blue-collar truckers embarrassed him, and citizen journalists told their story. He had all the big shots in the palm of his hand — CBC, CTV, Global, all the newspapers. But there was that pesky internet, those pesky citizen journalists on social media.

Don’t think he didn’t notice. You don’t spend billions of dollars a year buying and renting and corrupting the media to support your agenda without seeing the holdouts.

And that’s why the big story of 2023 is actually linked to the big story of 2022. 2023 is the year of Trudeau’s revenge. Social media videos were the poor man’s broadcasters. But Trudeau doesn’t control them.

Well, enter Bill C-11 — the Online Streaming Act, as it’s known. It does one simple thing and sets the table for many complex things. It gives Trudeau’s hand-picked CRTC regulator jurisdiction over the Internet in the same way that they have jurisdiction over old-fashioned TV and radio. It’s Trudeau’s revenge.

https://youtu.be/eTfhwkgGAH0

Well, this week Bill C-11 passed in the Senate, by a vote of 52 to 16. It won’t surprise you that China’s two favourite Senators — Peter Harder, of the Canada China Business Council, and the disgraceful Yuen Pau Woo, the pro-Communist propagandist, love C-11. It reminds them of China’s censorship regime.

52-16. How embarrassing for Canada. Even more embarrassing, Patrick Brazeau abstained. How can you abstain? I mean, either have the courage to stand for freedom, or have the courage to admit you’re a censor. How embarrassing to abstain. It received Royal Assent last night, too — so it now only awaits being “proclaimed” before it is active law.

So this has passed Parliament. And it will be turned into law very soon. This is Trudeau’s top priority — not the economy, not solving the national strike, not the cost of living or the cost of housing or immigration or taxes. This is. Censoring us. And by us, I mean you and me. Not t...

The Rebel Commander Ezra Levant is flying solo, wrapping up the week on today's DAILY Roundup.

Today, Ezra's looking at the most recent arrest of a pastor in Alberta — a statement we never thought we'd be making — as Derek Reimer was arrested and charged with mischief and causing a disturbance following a protest at an all-ages drag event this past weekend.

Plus, Justin Trudeau just keeps getting grilled by the mainstream media. If Trudeau's starting to lose support from even his allies in the media, there must be something to this Chinese election interference scandal.

And finally, Ukraine's President Zelensky has made some bold statements recently, warning that if Ukraine falls Russia will continue its assault on neighbouring NATO nations and says his military is planning to reclaim Crimea.

Christine Anderson, a Member of the European Parliament from Germany, has been on tour in Canada this past week. Anderson went viral during the pandemic for her scorching speeches condemning Justin Trudeau’s heavy-handed lockdowns. Her support for the trucker convoy helped make that peaceful Canadian uprising an international sensation.

But this morning Liberal Party mud-slinger Warren Kinsella went to work, denouncing Anderson as a hate-monger, and smearing Conservative MPs photographed meeting with her, including former leadership candidate Leslyn Lewis. Kinsella’s hyperventilated attack was soon picked up by Brian Lilley, boyfriend of Doug Ford’s press secretary and columnist for the Toronto Sun.

But other than the Liberal war room and the Doug Ford war room, the story wasn’t going anywhere — calling German politicians “Nazis” doesn’t work, as that country criminalizes Nazism and those who support it. It is literally impossible for Anderson to be a Nazi — she’d be in prison if she were.

But for some reason, Poilievre — or, more likely, an inexperienced media handler — panicked. Instead of ignoring the story being ginned up by provocateurs, Poilievre’s staff put out a striking statement, one that could have been dictated by Trudeau himself: “Christine Anderson’s views are vile and have no place in our politics... Frankly, it would be better if Anderson never visited Canada in the first place. She and her racist, hateful views are not welcome here.”

What racist, hateful views? Poilievre didn’t say. And a careful read of the accusations made by Kinsella and Lilley shows they just cite other professional “anti-hate” activists, including the Liberal-funded “Canadian Anti-Hate Network”. The whole thing was a set-up — and Poilievre fell for it.

Not only did he humiliate his own MPs — including the popular Ms. Lewis — but he did Trudeau an enormous favour, by interrupting the national media’s recent interest in Trudeau’s affiliations with the Communist Party of China and that country’s interference in Canadian elections. Like a hockey player scoring a goal on his own net, Poilievre “proved” that his party was indeed racist by accepting the accusation, and legitimizing what would have otherwise been a fringe story shopped around by a couple of cranks.

Worst of all, Poilievre’s willingness to bend to the media mob, and turn on his own MPs (and Anderson’s many grassroots supporters) casts doubt on Poilievre’s commitment to end cancel culture and stand up to the woke mob. Poilievre has been on a winning street battling against CBC journalists, mocking them and defying their will. Today instead of laughing at journalists, he was obeying them and taking directions from them. Not a good look.

The lockdowns shook my faith in the police. Police were enforcing things that were not criminal offences; they were often being bullies about it; the best police were either reassigned to other files, or frankly took early retirement, or were suspended from the force because they didn’t want to get jabbed.

Police didn’t fight crime; they enforced political dictates, that often changed week by week. How many people were in a gathering; what kind of gatherings; Costco and the liquor store were fine, but not churches. What a joke — but the police enthusiastically became political weapons. Remember when they deployed a hundred cops because Adam Skelly kept his smoked meat restaurant open? Yeah, that wasn’t real policing.

The low point of course was when the police agreed to enforce a police state. There was no national emergency; the country wasn’t in danger. Trudeau was embarrassed; that’s all. So the police stomped on people with riot horses. And then they had a good laugh about it in their internal WhatsApp group. They talked about their jackboots crushing citizens. Not a single one of those cops was suspended.

And that cop who assaulted Alexa Lavoie? His name is Sgt. Jordan Arthur We’re suing him. I should tell you that the RCMP says they’re investigating him too, which is interesting. Except they’re lying. The attack on Alexa was more then a year ago, but they still haven’t even interviewed Jordan Arthur yet. Some interview. More like a whitewash and a cover-up. What a disgrace. What do you do when a cop is a criminal? Because that’s what it is when a cop shoots someone, for no reason, with a weapon that isn’t even designed to be shot at someone. So, so gross.

The woke are destroying everything strong and male and proud. They've turned football, NASCAR, and even the military into anti-American, woke, take-a-knee messes. They focus more on diversity and transgenderism than on national security. They're corroding everything from the inside out, to demoralize men.

Where were the police in America when Antifa riots swept the nation, creating chaos in the months before the 2020 election? Well, some of them were busy bringing Trump protesters into the Capitol building, literally guiding them through the building.

Just yesterday, left-wingers, including transgender activists, recently stormed several government buildings, including the capitol building in Nashville, but the CBC didn't even cover it. They tussled with police, and, shockingly, they'll only face two years in jail. The law only seems to go one way now. Antifa is praised by the establishment while the Proud Boys, a drinking fraternity, is on Canada's list of terrorist groups. Not because they are terrorists, but because Trudeau needed something to point to when he wanted to say "right-wing terrorist group."

My point is that the rule of law is now malleable, and it all depends on who is holding the stick. The news out of New York City is alarming, with an extremist District Attorney, elected with George Soros money, indicting Trump and calling for his arrest and extradition to New York from Florida. This has nothing to do with him being president, it's the relitigation of Trump paying money to a stripper. I don't even care whether he had sex with her or not; the fact that this is what Trump is being arrested and jailed for is absurd, and the justice system has been twisted to accomplish this for obvious political reasons.

You cannot trust the legal system in America anymore — not if there are politics afoot. Here’s a member of the grand jury in Georgia who said she voted to prosecute trump because she was excited about meeting him.

Yeah, I think things are broken.

But they’re broken just one way. Have you ever seen a conservative, or a Republican, in the U.S. or Canada use the legal system to fight a battle? And I don’t mean to fight unfairly, to twist the law and abuse it. I mean, to fight a crime when the perpetrator is a leftist

Well, that’s my news today. And it continues to impress me about Ron DeSantis in Florida. He’s one of 26 Republican governors. They all have similar powers. But he’s the only one using all the tools at his disposal to push his agenda. Every liberal does. Every Democrat does. But Republicans don’t. And it’s amazing to watch the one guy who does.

So the law — the FACE Act — was drafted to target people who committed crimes at abortion centres. But DeSantis is using it to target people who commit crimes are pregnancy centres — which is actually what reproductive health means; it’s not an ironic euphemism.

But they’re right — it is unprecedented. Our side never fights back. It’s always prosecutions of Trump — not Clinton or Obama. Not Antifa.

And how about here in Canada? Pastor Derek Reimer was assaulted — he didn’t assault anyone. He’s been charged; but not those who attacked him.

Danielle Smith’s sovereignty act...
