Daniel Rodriguez is a decorated Army veteran, former Clemson Tiger football player, musician and actor. Daniel served in combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and survived the Battle of Kamdesh in which his entire combat outpost was overrun by 400 Taliban militants. His best friend and fellow soldier Kevin Thomson died at his side defending Daniel. Daniel later received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor for his heroic efforts in Afghanistan. He also fulfilled a promise he made to Kevin Thomson and played college football for the Clemson Tigers. Daniel struggled with PTSD and depression for years after his military service and continues to recover. Daniel’s best selling autobiography is entitled: Rise: A Soldier, A Dream, and a Promise Kept. Daniel and his fellow soldiers are the subject of the 2020 movie The Outpost starring Orlando Bloom and Scott Eastwood and the book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor by Jake Tapper.
