Rambling Ramsbothams - 90 Days in Japan - Is It Still What We Hoped?

90 Days in Japan - Is It Still What We Hoped?

10/25/22 • 45 min

Rambling Ramsbothams

This time last year, Zeb had submitted his application for the JET Programme and we began to anxiously await the results. Fast forward to today, where we've been lucky enough to have lived in Japan for 90 days already!
Is Uchinada what we had hoped for? How's Japanese language study going? Did we just have rose-colored glasses thinking about Kanazawa from our honeymoon? What are our favorite parts about our new daily routines?
Join us on this podcast as we review the "4 Stage of Culture Shock" and recap life abroad in Japan so far!

Listen to the end of every episode to hear our Japanese "words-of-the-week," and head to @ramblingramsbothams on Instagram to see behind-the-scenes photos.

How Did We Celebrate Halloween in Japan?

This past week was filled with a lot of good bike riding and food (like black ramen!), but it was also Halloween time! Halloween has only recently begun to be celebrated in Japan, and we talk about getting to dress up and volunteer at a festive party for local kids here in Uchinada. The dress-up fun continued with Zeb's high school festival, where he was asked to participate in their comedy fashion show - dressed as a little girl from a popular anime show!
