Brian Ruby, a gay professional baseball player and country singer made headlines in 2021 when he publicly became the only out while active player. Bryan made a powerful statement that his identity as a gay man and his love for baseball can coexist. His actions are an example of how knowing someone in the LGBTQ+ community changes one's worldview and diminishes the "them versus us" mentality. He was vulnerable and had much to lose by taking the giant step publicly and you'll find hope and inspiration through his story.
Bryan also discusses the creation of Proud to Be in Baseball, a non-profit organization that supports LGBTQ+ athletes in baseball and creates a sense of community for them.
In addition, as a rising country music artist, Bryan Ruby won Season 7 of the talent-search competition Nashville Rising Song, and his first single, ‘Left Field’, was featured on The TODAY Show and added to rotation on SiriusXM Country Pride, as well as the Academy of Country Music's Ultimate Pride Playlist.

Picture a world where love transcends barriers, prejudice, and misunderstanding; that's the world seen through B Proud's lens. Guest, photographer B Proud, transports us into the heart of the LGBTQ community with her powerful and evocative images. She shares insights into her captivating projects, such as her 2014 book featuring black and white photographs of LGBTQ couples and her current visually stunning exhibit, the Transcending Love Project, celebrating transgender and gender nonconforming couples and families in vibrant color.
B Proud unearths the complexity of the transgender experience. With her Transcending Love Project, B Proud encapsulates the diversity, beauty, and resilience within the community. We delve into the creative process, the stories, and the significance of the project.
Together, we navigate the evolution of LGBTQ+ rights and representation as seen through B Proud's lens. We use the backdrop of her work to touch upon the landmark case of Edith Windsor, whose fight for love laid the groundwork for the Obergefell decision on marriage equality. It's not just a conversation about her photographs; it's a conversation about the message they carry, the progress that's been made, and the importance of keeping the dialogue alive. Join us, as we celebrate love, equality, and representation with B Proud.

Ever wondered how a film from the 90s shaped the contemporary queer landscape? Philip Bahr dives right in and breaks down the iconic 1994 Australian film 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.' It's a frothy, fun, and deeply impactful film that still holds significance in the current political climate. He sifts through its layers, characters, and the harsh reality of that era, as well as elements of the film that may not have aged particularly well.
Brad is on vacation so rather than replay an older episode he offers one from one of his favorite podcasts. Reel Charlie Speaks is an LGBTQ podcast spin-off of the film and television review blog, Reel Charlie, which has been looking at movies and TV from a gay male perspective since 2009. Each month the host, Philip Bahr, selects a classic queer film, television series, or creator. He talks about how the subject spoke to him when he first discovered it years ago, and how it stood the test of time. Spoilers possible. Alerts always.

Embark on a journey of self-discovery and inspirational leadership with Jim Fielding, the quintessential queer executive, who opens the pages of his life in "All Pride, No Ego." During his impressive corporate career, he has been president of Disney Stores and CEO of Clair's, but it's the deeply human experiences that shape his narrative. As we peek into Jim's personal journals that paved the way for his book, we uncover the profound influence of authenticity in both personal triumphs and professional endeavors. His story isn't only about climbing the corporate ladder; it's a lesson in finding one's identity amidst the towering expectations of society and the corporate world.
The conversation takes us through the corridors of Jim's past—from the art of retail perfection at The Gap to the enchanting leadership at Disney Store. We follow his path of coming out, the familial strains it initially caused, and the subsequent, heartfelt transformation into a network of support. Jim's personal anecdotes illustrate the struggles and victories of living authentically and how they profoundly enrich one's approach to leadership. We also celebrate the release of "All Pride, No Ego," a must-read for anyone on a quest for authenticity in life and leadership.

Eric was a man who lived on the fringes of society. He was a sex worker who survived by working the streets. Through Eric, Brad learned the importance of perspective. It was the gift of being able to step back and see things from a different point of view. A point of view many can learn from.

Join commedian ANT as Brad's guest and be inspired to get up and create change with kindness.
"It cost nothing to be kind. And I wasn't always kind. I got wrapped up in fame for a long time. I got wrapped up in money. I got wrapped up in the trappings. And I forgot the cardinal rule that my parents brought me up with, which is kindness is always important."
ANT is an internationally renowned comedian and actor, known for his appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Tyra Bank Show, and NBC's Last Comic Standing. He is passionate about using comedy to bring attention to different perspectives and to help people forget their pain.
ANT shares this story, and reflects on his journey as a comedian addiction, recovery, and how kindness is essential. He emphasizes the importance of laughter. He also encourages people to ask for help if they are struggling with depression or mental illness. In the end, he reminds everyone "It costs nothing to be kind."
In this episode, you will learn the following:
1. The Role of Comedy in Raising Awareness: Explore how comedy can be used to draw attention to difficult topics and how comedians take the "temperature of America".

The title of this episode is a take on Dale Carnegie's quote:
“Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.”
Should you greet an employee at an establishment? They are wearing name badges, after all. Survey's say some like it, some hate it, and some don't care either way. So, what's a good way to approach it? Brad offers a suggestion.
