Episode 57: Punks Against Sweatshops Q&A with members of Propagandhi, Petrol Girls, Dream Nails, Oi Polloi, In Evil Hour and Steve Ignorant
06/07/20 • 101 min
This episode was recorded via Zoom on behalf of Punk Ethics to support their campaign 'Punks Against Sweatshops'.
Punks in Pubs was asked to present the Q&A with a panel that featured...
Propagandhi's Jord
Petrol Girls' vocalist Ren
The great Deek of Oi Polloi
Janey who is the vocalist of the 'punk witches' Dream Nails
One half of In Evil Hour, Al & Gareth
And lastly the punk legend, Steve Ignorant
We came together to discuss the taboo subject matter of 'where do bands source their merch?'
You can expect chat on; bands confronting other bands, why we should all pay a little more for a T-shirt, how we can all do our bit to support workers' rights and we ask the question if anyone can live an ethical life?
We also touch on the impact of COVID-19 on the music and garment industries as well as ask why this punk panel was an all-white one?

Punks In Pubs Special: Sound of the Police
Six years ago Liam produced a radio documentary for the BBC called 'Sound of the Police'
It was a documentary that looked into the lack of trust in the police within the young black community in the UK and how Stop Search (or Stop and Frisk as its known in the US) had played its part in the mistrust.
It was broadcasted in June 2014 but still holds up with what is going on today, so we decided we would put it out as a special episode.
The doc was presented by journalist, musician and filmmaker called Boya Dee.
Below are a few organisations that you should check out if you want to know more about Stop Search.
