It's been a long three weeks but we have returned just in time for "The Masked Singer" to capture our full attention and for "The Sopranos" to turn 20.

Punch Drunk TV 117: SAG Awards So White

It's our final episode of the year. And through Aaron's deliriously tired state and Jack's inebriation, we'd like to apologize for all the loud typing and random banging on the table (seriously, we didn't even realize it was happening until it was too late.)

This week, we not only document our winners and losers of the week -- we go through the past year's programming and sift through the best and worst. And we also discuss the SAG Awards TV Nominations ... which, with just a few exceptions, is seriously all about the white people.

NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:

A new rumor puts Ken Jeong as the frontrunner to host The Oscars.
Ian Ziering has joined the cast of DC's "Swamp Thing" as the hero, Blue Devil.
Netflix is getting ready to premiere a four-part true crime series about Ted Bundy on January 24th, called "Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes." The release date is the 30th anniversary of Bundy's execution.
"Get Shorty" has been renewed at Epix. "Goliath" has been renewed at Amazon. "Detroiters" has been canceled at Comedy Central.
Japan's anime industry is now worth roughly $19 billion dollars, thanks to streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, and overseas sales.
While it seems like Netflix has a bunch of debt to deal with, Amazon's Prime Video channels helped the streaming service grow with revenues gaining $700 million over 2017 averages.
Most importantly, Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon will return to Amazon Prime as hosts of the upcoming Rose Parade.

Punch Drunk TV 119: The CW ... Where Disney Teens are DTF

Aaron here -- after taking a week off my wife, her mother, my baby and I all got hit with the flu, we have returned for Episode 119 of Punch Drunk TV. There's a lot we go over in this episode, including the multiple Fyre Festival docs that hit streaming last week. Before we kick things off, Jack's wife JoEllen poses a question to us and you Clinkers: How would you describe The CW? Because they definitely have their own very specific brand going on.

NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:

The CW has ordered a musical dramedy spinoff of "Riverdale" titled "Katy Keene."
The CW also ordered a "Lost Boys" TV series which will no longer be an anthology series but, as THR says, will be "set in Santa Carla and explores the secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla's eternally beautiful and youthful undead."
"Queer Eye" will go to Tokyo for four episodes in its next season. The special four-episode installment, titled "Queer Eye: We're in Japan!," will premiere on Netflix after Season 3 of the series drops later this year.
Netflix is rebooting "Unsolved Mysteries" from the show's original producers. According to THR, "the new series will follow a similar format to its predecessor, which first aired on NBC in the late 1980s. Each of the 12 episodes will focus on a single mystery — the broadcast version had multiple cases per episode — and like the original, will enlist viewers' help in solving each case."
Showtime has bought the rights to a four-part docuseries titled, "Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men." The first two episodes will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and then the series will air on the network in the spring.
A Fyre Festival-inspired GoFundMe campaign for Bahamian restaurant owner Maryann Rolle has raised more than $100,000 to help her with the debt she went into during the disastrous music event.
