Hey Hey! We're back!

Geeta, Arash and Ryan gather in person for first time since June at the new literal House of Greed to discuss Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson's big shiny new contracts.

They discuss the positives of the Canucks' offseason as well as the traditional chaos that surrounds the team each summer. They also look at Robin Lehner's very frank and honest Twitter thread outlining the problems with prescription drugs in hockey and sports.

Two new segments are also introduced this week. Geeta's editorial segment 'Are You Reddy For It?' and the first addition to PON's Banned List. Who got the dubious honour? Find out on our brand new podcast, the first of the season!

Support the show on Patreon! Pledge a coupla bucks ($5+) for access to our bonus content: video podcasts and our weekly '5 Minutes For Paying'. On this week's segment:Arash wants Geeta and Ryan to work on their Boston accents. The PON Fantasy Draft looms and Arash proposes some strict rule changes. Geeta and Ryan each give a hot take for the Vancouver Canucks' upcoming season.

Pucks On Net - 206 - Traded For A Pile Of Old Rags
play

12/04/18 • 75 min

The William Nylander saga is over in Toronto and to celebrate, Kyle Dubas made a "blockbuster" trade with Jim Benning and the Vancouver Canucks.

Ryan, Geeta and Paul gather in the palatial estate to discuss the six year, $6.9 million AAV contract handed out to William Nylander at the 11th hour. What will this mean for the Maple Leafs' big cap crunch next season? Could we see Nylander or another big part of the Leafs' core be moved next year? Or can Kyle Dubas make it all fit under the salary cap?

They also discuss the Vancouver Canucks trade for Toronto's odd man out, Josh Leivo. What can he bring to the struggling Canucks? Early projections have him playing with Bo Horvat, who has seen a revolving door of linemates this year, all while leading the team in scoring.

They talk about how the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks' have fared since making their big trade last week. Both teams are headed in opposite directions to say the least.

Ilya Kovalchuk is set to miss a month of hockey following a procedure on his ankle. Is this a legitimate absence from the LA Kings, or is he just waiting out Willie D's tenure as head coach. They also discuss the two intriguing waiver pick ups the Kings' made this week, Brendan Leipsic and Nikita Sherbak.

Pucks On Net - 205 - Hitchin' A Ride To Edmonton
play

11/27/18 • 72 min

Last week on the show, we fell to the floor laughing about the idea of Ken Hitchcock coaching an NHL team in 2018, and then the Edmonton Oilers came a knocking.

Ryan, Geeta and P Mac gather at the palatial estate to discuss Ken Hitchcock's hiring in Edmonton. Dave skypes in from Edmonton to chime in on a very questionable decision in bringing in the recently retired Hitchcock. Will his dead puck era style of coaching work with McDavid? Or this will be another step backward in the Oilers' feedback loop of failure?

They also discuss the struggling LA Kings. It seems like Willie D has already made an impact down in So Cal, and has demoted Ilya Kovalchuk to the fourth line and playing less than seven minutes a night. He was the lone bright spot on the Kings this season, but since Willie D has taken over, Kovalchuk's point production has almost dried up completely.

They look back to Patrik Laine's big five goal effort Saturday night vs the St. Louis Blues and just what sparked his recent hot streak. Some intel may lead you to believe it might have to do with Fornite!

They talk about the Maple Leafs' impending William Nylander contract concerns and look at the trade the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks made. The Blackhawks sent Nick Schmaltz to Arizona for Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini, we dissect the trade and take a look at what some recent Blackhawks' first round picks are up to.

Finally, the gang discusses the Canucks, their injuries, their big slump busting win against their former coach in LA and answer some Twitter questions.

This week the gang their driving habits, the Jason Spezza game in Vancouver, Ryan tells a terrifying story about driving cautiously, the Carolina Hurricanes' escalating win celebrations and shameful McDonald's meals.

Pucks On Net - 166 - Unsolved Mysteries In Edmonton Part 2
play

11/28/17 • 62 min

As the 2017/18 NHL season continues on, everyone's starting to wonder about those Edmonton Oilers. What the heck happened to the team expected to ride Connor McDavid's coattails to playoff success?

Dave, P Mac, Geeta & Ryan join you this week to discuss the evolution of Brock Boeser's rookie season. His Calder Cup (hopeful) campaign and how the rest of the NHL is starting to take note. Can he maintain his goal scoring at an alarming rate, or will the NHL's toughest defence crack down on him?

They also discuss the ongoing Gudbranson saga, the Vancouver Canucks' defence and if there is a point in the season when the Canucks should stop focusing on development and worry about a playoff run?

The gang tries to figure out what is wrong with the Oilers. Our second installment of "Unsolved Mysteries in Edmonton" looks at how the team built around Connor McDavid, the problems they have faced this year and whether maybe last year's success was the real mystery, and not their lack of success this year.

Enjoy!
