Adam Deffett
He is a senior capital markets professional with over 15 years of experience in the Canadian equity markets.
Adam began his career at RBC Capital Markets and has held senior positions in both sales and trading at various Canadian banks and independent dealers, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Institutional Sales at Laurentian Bank.
He has extensive experience in capital raising, shareholder communication and capital markets strategy. In 2019 Adam transitioned into working with companies directly as an executive focused on corporate development, strategy and capital markets.

Jesse Gould
Jesse Gould, Founder of Heroic Hearts Project, was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and grew up in New Smyrna Beach, FL. In 2009 he graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Economics. After working in investment banking for a short time he enlisted in the Army and became an Airborne Ranger for four years and three combat deployments. Most recently, he worked in finance in Tampa, FL.
After struggling with severe anxiety for many years, he finally decided to go to an ayahuasca retreat which has had a profoundly positive effect on his anxiety and daily life. During the week-long retreat, he instantly saw the healing potential of the drink and knew that it could be a powerful tool in healing the mental struggles of his fellow veterans. This experience inspired him to found Heroic Hearts Project, an organisation that connects veterans in need of healing with ayahuasca therapy. Since its founding, Heroic Hearts Project has quickly become one of the most prominent veteran voices pushing for psychedelic based therapies.

He is the co-founder and managing partner of Noetic, a venture capital firm that seeks to invest in emerging and early-stage psychedelic-based wellness, therapeutic and pharmaceutical companies around the world.
Sa’ad has spent the last 22 years in capital markets and asset management industry with a
focus on alternative investment strategies. Prior to co-founding Noetic, Sa’ad was a managing director at The Carlyle Group.
Sa’ad is also the co-founder and managing partner at Grey House Partners, venture partner at Alpha Partners, an affiliate partner at Lindsay Goldberg LLC and a venture advisor to Learn Capital LLC.
He is also a filmmaker, scriptwriter and producer, and a board member of The Necessary Angel Theatre in Toronto and Council of Advisors for The Wende Museum in Los Angeles.

He graduated summa cum laude in Architecture from Cambridge University and built a nonprofit to help Kenyan children access schooling. Brought up in Papua New Guinea, Portugal and Scotland, he began his career in New York with Daniel Libeskind, working on the Ground Zero masterplan.
He has a decade of experience designing consumer software and his interests are behavioral data, digital art, user experience design, playing piano, and mindfulness.

Simons is the Chief Publishing Officer at the APA, overseeing the world’s premier portfolio of journals, books and digital solutions for behavioral scientists, health practitioners, educators and the public.
Prior to joining the APA, Simons was a Vice President of Product and Market Strategy at Thomson Reuters (now Clarivate). There he managed software solutions for publishers and associations, including ScholarOne Manuscripts, the leading content management platform for the industry.
Simons currently serves on the Board of Directors of Crossref, a not-for-profit membership organization that exists to make scholarly communications better. Ben Westhoff:
He is a best-selling, award-winning investigative journalist who writes about culture, drugs, and poverty. His books are taught around the country and have been translated into languages all over the world.
His new book Little Brother: Love, Tragedy, and My Search for the Truth (May 24, 2022, Hachette Books) details his search for the man who killed Jorell Cleveland, Westhoff’s longtime mentee in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Part memoir, part true crime, it’s a three-year investigation set in the northern suburbs of St. Louis that uncovers a heartbreaking cycle of poverty, poor education, drug trafficking, and violence.
Westhoff’s 2019 work Fentanyl, Inc.: How Rogue Chemists Are Creating the Deadliest Wave of the Opioid Epidemic is the bombshell first book about fentanyl, which is causing the worst drug crisis in American history. Westhoff was interviewed about the book for Fresh Air and Joe Rogan, and published an excerpt in The Atlantic. Since the book’s publication, Westhoff has advised top government officials on the fentanyl crisis, including from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, the U.S. embassy in Beijing, and the U.S. State Department.
Westhoff’s 2016 book Original Gangstas: Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, and the Birth of West Coast Rap is one of the best-selling hip-hop books of all time. It received raves from Rolling Stone and People, and a starred review in Kirkus. S.
