In this podcast, the topic of requiring nurses to use their vacation days when they contract Covid-19 is discussed. Numerous hospitals are in such dire need of staff that they encourage nurses who have tested positive for COVID-19 to return to work if they are symptom-free and are wearing full PPE.
This is because so many hospitals are in dire need of personnel. This circumstance places these nurses, who are already undervalued and overburdened, under severe mental and physical strain, which is cause for concern.
The solution is straightforward: explicit legislation should cover the sick leave of nurses who miss work due to COVID-19, regardless of whether they have received vaccinations or their division.
Self-care must be a top priority for nurses, who must not risk their health for their profession's sake.

Project ReNew
02/09/23 β’ 11 min
Can Nurses Suffer from PTSD?
Yes, some nurses may develop post-traumatic stress disorder. Nurses frequently experience mental, emotional, and physical fatigue in the course of their work. Consequently, many nurses have reported enduring post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms such as worry, difficulty focusing, insomnia, and excessive exhaustion. Trauma counsellors can be helpful resources for nurses suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who are ready to talk about their experiences. The first step in healing from trauma is recognising any triggers, such as people, places, or events, that may be standing in the way of progress. "Come with us as we seek solace and new understanding.
Tune in to this Episode on the ReNew for some much-needed solace, encouragement, and motivation. Anyone who has experienced trauma or mental health issues is welcome here, as is anyone who wants to listen and join in the effort to help others find strength in the face of tragedy.
