International Peace Coalition #101Friday May 9, 11am ET/5pm CET This week marks the 80th anniversary of the defeat of fascism. Join us with Larry Johnson, Glenn Diesen, Mossi Raz and others for an intense discussion. We invite you and your organizations on. Please share reports and initiatives for the agenda. RSVP Here: https://schillerinstitute.nationbuild... Friends of the International Peace Coalition, Thursday and Friday of this week mark an occasion of special significance. This May 8, the United States officially celebrates the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, when in 1945 Germany formally surrendered to the Allied Powers, putting an end to World War II. On May 9, Russia also officially celebrates Victory Day in what they call the Great Patriotic War, when Germany’s surrender was formally signed in Berlin. Heads of state and government of 29 nations—including BRICS members China, Brazil and Egypt—are gathered in Moscow this week for the Victory Parade and related activities. In the weeks leading up to May 9, Russia’s top leadership have singled out, with pinpoint accuracy, the role of Great Britain as the force behind the rise of Nazi Germany and the power that urged them to drive east into Russia, in sharp contrast to the role played by the United States in defense of democracy and sovereignty—noting, as well, that this is the crucial lesson to be drawn for today. In recent weeks, Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council; Nikolay Patrushev, former Secretary of the Russian Security Council and now personal aide to President Vladimir Putin; and Sergey Naryshkin’s SVR (Foreign Intelligence Service) have all struck that same theme: that the United States of Lincoln and FDR is Russia’s natural ally, just as it was in the past, in the war against British-created fascism today. Mankind is once again staring at the ugly face of fascism: in the followers of Hitler-ally Stepan Bandera who today rule Kiev; in the followers of Vladimir Ze’ev Jabotinsky, whom Ben-Gurion called "Vladimir Hitler" for his open defense of the Nazis, who today run Israel’s Netanyahu government and are engaged in the extermination of Gaza and its people; in the use of blind terrorism to spark geopolitical regional wars, such as in the Indian subcontinent. That is because the British-centered financial interests have once again revived the policies of Schacht—rearmament for war, combined with a bailout of the bankrupt financial system—to try to salvage their world order. In her weekly webcast dialogue today, "Three Dangerous Hot Spots, One Solution," Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche pointed directly to the problem—and its solution. "We see worldwide a whole pattern of attacks against every single BRICS country... [On the current India-Pakistan crisis] the first thing to do is to reinstate the [Indus] Waters treaty between India and Pakistan, because that is a very serious question. Otherwise, [they should] really get involved in the New Paradigm, because there is a move for settling all of these questions—if you agree on principles of cooperation. Given that the BRICS countries are intending to use the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, as well as the UN Charter, that is already a framework. So, if you agree that that is what you want to uphold as your basic principles, then you can sit down and discuss all the tricky questions in a separate way, as was done in the Peace of Westphalia. "I think an approach like that should be taken, and I think Russia and China and other countries—like Indonesia, Brazil, Nigeria, South Africa many other countries—could be part of such an approach." Join the International Peace Coalition this Friday at 11am EDT/5pm CET with Larry Johnson, Glenn Diesen, Mossi Raz and others for an intense discussion. We invite you and your organizations on. Programs and Interviews - Daily Update May 12th - Diplomacy Makes a Comeback
play

05/13/25 • 10 min

How can manipulated geopolitical confrontations be overcome? Only through negotiations based on a "win-win" strategy shaped by the principle of mutual benefit can a lasting peace be achieved. There are numerous talks scheduled for this week which may initiate a new dynamic path toward peace. The war hawks will try to sabotage them -- now is the time for the citizens to step forward and demand an end to bankers' wars.

The banning of 11 opposition political parties, and the legal attack on one party leader, Natalia Vitrenko, exposes the fraud of Ukraine's "fight for freedom." It is time to cut off funds to Ukraine, to bring them to the negotiating table; and for the West to recognize that the war is lost, and agree to a peace with security guarantees for both Ukraine and Russia.

On April 9, the same day that Trump’s nation-specific tariffs took effect, Trump announced a 90-day pause on those tariffs for most nations—the well-behaved ones—with the notable exception of China, on whom Trump brazenly announced a 125% tariff, because of the "lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets," and in retaliation for China’s announced reciprocal 84% tariff on US imports. Looming in the background of the bravado and news headlines is a financial system which is ready to blow sky-high, perhaps beginning in the bond market, and which, in its terminal condition, could not be saved by any amount of liquidity pumping or bailout. Add to this picture—because it is an integral part of the same system—the multiple flashpoints of war that still loom. At the moment, a meeting, or perhaps indirect negotiation, between US and Iranian representatives is planned for April 12 in Oman—a hopeful step toward diffusing a war that could quickly turn nuclear—while at the same time, the US amasses weaponry in the region and announces new sanctions targeting Iran’s nuclear program. Conditions have not yet been agreed upon for an end to the war in Ukraine, and Israel proceeds in its genocidal liquidation of Gaza. Moments like this must give us pause to think, along with Dr. Martin Luther King, that "only when it’s dark enough, can you see the stars." The fact that there is no solution within the dying geopolitical system of empire, war, and Wall St. means that the only way out is via the creation of a new system, a new paradigm, based on entirely different axioms than the current one. In her April 9 webcast discussion with Ambassador Jack Matlock Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche put forward a sane approach to dealing with the impending blowout of the financial system: "The proper way to have done it would have been to call for a big international economic conference, like a New Bretton Woods conference, and then discuss the principles of how this reorganization should be done. And then put the details to a taskforce and expert groups and work it all out in a goodwill cooperation." The world has been holding up a dying financial bubble which is triggering a general breakdown and world war. Join the International Peace Coalition this Friday at 11am ET/5pm CET with former U.S. diplomat, CIA official, and Islamic scholar Graham Fuller, Historian Geoffrey Roberts, and others to be announced soon.

As we begin the celebration of the 250th anniversary of our Republic, let us look to the Platonic roots of our nation embodied in the European Renaissance that paved the way for it's existence nearly 600 years ago. This week, Diane is joined by LaRouche Organization history editor Christopher Sare for this fascinating discussion.

One major hurdle to restart U.S. industry is that the machinery needed to set up many different production lines is not available. It must be imported, much of it from China. Everything from furniture manufacturing, to packaging materials, to producing nuts and bolts has been dependent on foreign-produced machines. Bloomberg this week reviews dependence on China. In recent months, U.S. businesses have filed hundreds of requests, made to the U.S. Trade Representative, for exemptions on China tariffs in order to get such machinery. One example is Tesla, Inc., which has filed multiple requests, arguing that they are needed to restart manufacturing in the U.S. Such a piecemeal approach is unlikely to survive the deluge of a trade war. Rather, the U.S. might join the long line of countries benefitting from China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” to industrialize other countries. Johan “Kip” Eideberg, Senior Vice President for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers is quoted, “While we certainly agree we should aggressively pursue any policy that helps us make things in America, the idea that you can move every part of the manufacturing process back to the U.S. does not align with reality.” His group represents makers of equipment used in construction, agriculture, mining, utilities and forest products. Jay Timmons, president of the National Association of Manufacturers said in a statement that the tariffs, “threaten investment, jobs, supply chains and, in turn, America’s ability to outcompete other nations.” What gets lost in the discussion is that no serious national drive for industrialization can avoid dealing with unstable supply lines, inadequate and/or outmoded transportation and electrical infrastructure, and an adequately educated and skilled workforce.

Putin just called the bluff of the War Hawks who are trying to prop up their collapsing unipolar order. By recognizing the independence of the "breakaway republics" of Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk, he is offering to protect them from the escalating shelling and shooting coming from the Ukraine side of the Line of Contact. He said no matter what Russia did, the West would respond with sanctions, because their goal is not peace, but the destruction of Russia's economy, to force a regime change there, which he will not allow. The alternative is to organize a new security architecture -- is anyone in the West listening?

DU 1/3/22: As Putin reiterated his warnings to the U.S. and NATO to not cross the clear "red lines" he has drawn, he said this is not an "ultimatum", but a necessary defense of Russia's national security. Are his American and NATO "partners" listening? Putin said there are "certain signals" that a diplomatic resolution is possible, and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov affirmed that discussions will take place in the new year. Yet NATO, and especially the British, are continuing to move forces to the Russian border, leading to concerns that an attack into eastern Ukraine by Kiev neo-nazi units could provoke a Russian invasion. At the same time, energy prices in Europe are spiking, as part of an inflationary spiral which will only worsen, as the global Green New Deal is imposed -- though the Atlanticists will blame Russia for energy shortages and blackouts. There are real solutions, beginning with signing the treaties proposed by Putin; dismantle NATO; and adopt Lyndon LaRouche's economic program, which could turn 2022 into an excellent year!
