The Far Meadow are a 5 piece progressive rock band from London and have 3 albums released to date. The one I heard first and have to say blown away by was their 2019 release called Foreign Land.

All their albums display incredible musicianship, but more than that they have an approach to songs which focuses on composition, melody and a sense of event. This approach reminds me so much of how the great bands of the early progressive rock era of the 70’s created musical events in music.

Make sure you visit our YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/c/ProgAxia/ Subscribe and hit the notification bell so you get all the latest Progressive Rock interviews, reviews and music.

The rhythm section made up of Keith Buckman on bass and Paul Bringloe drums travel through mood and complex time signature with ease, this is augmented with the virtuoso playing of keyboardist Eliot Min and guitarist Denis Warren.

The band is fronted by vocalist Marguerita Alexandrou whose voice puts the cherry on the cake. It’s strong and distinctive and adds a welcome uniqueness to the sound of the band. I encourage you to check out the albums for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

You can listen to their music on bandcamp https://thefarmeadow.bandcamp.com/

Ovrfwrd are a 4 piece progressive rock band from Minneapolis USA who have become one of the vanguard of modern progressive rock bands and were included in my 'Best Progressive Rock Of 2020' show and for a very good reason.

Their latest album Starstuff was their 4th studio album and has some remarkable instrumental prog. I caught up with Ovrfwrd and asked them about their influences, what brought them together and their reasoning behind the decision to create instrumental progressive music.

Albums include: Beyond the Visible Light - 2014
Fantasy Absent Reason - 2015
Blurring the Lines ... A Democracy Manifest - 2018
StarStuff - 2020
PLUS Occupations of Uninhabited Space - 2018 which is a LIVE in the studio album which includes the cover of an old Iron Maiden instrumental track Genghis Khan which I included as part of this interview

ProgAxia Progressive Rock Podcast - Zopp (Ryan Stevenson) Interview | ProgAxia Podcast
play

04/12/21 • 25 min

Zopp is the brainchild of multi-talented musician Ryan Stevenson. This is Stevenson’s debut album under the Zopp name, recruiting Andrea Moneta on drums and percussion as well as Andy Tillison (The Tangent) to help co-produce and mix the album.

If you love the sort of music the Canterbury Scene had to offer in the past then this will hot that sweet spot. It pulls heavily on the Canterbury Scene vibe but with a fresh contemporary twist.

In this ProgAxia podcast, Ryan Stevenson explains the origins of the name, how he got together with drummer Andrea Moneta (who is also the drummer with Italian prog band ) and an insight on how the Zopp debut album was recorded.

The track Before the Light from the album was featured in 'The Best Progressive Rock of 2020' available on Mixcloud https://www.mixcloud.com/RockinRebelRadio/best-progressive-rock-of-2020-rockin-rebel-radio/
