Welcome to The Prepping Academy. It’s a New Year and a new agenda for the show. 2020 was a wake-up call to many Americans, and even a test run for others. This makes it a great time to get organized and start fresh with your prepping.
In this episode, Forrest and Kyle briefly address the events of the past week surrounding the election before getting into the new objective for the show. Going back to roughly 6 years ago Forrest and Kyle started discussing a 30 days breakdown for preppers to get ready. Now that agenda has certainly picked up and the pace should be expedited.

Buy cheap and buy often, or buy once cry once. Some Preppers buy some of the absolute cheapest gear possible from sites like Aliexpress and buy as many as duplicates as they can. Even if you’re not a believer, it’s important to note some of the most evil individuals in the world are and this is what spurs their actions. “Know your enemy.” And no, this isn’t a Sun Tzu quote.The first thing Forrest and Kyle we’ll be breaking down is the basic “essentials.” Items that every Prepper must have. When it comes to Prepper gear we’ve never met a Prepper who doesn’t want their product to last. For a Prepper, things like lifetime warranties don’t matter much. After all, who is going to be manning the phone at Surefire or EOTech after the crap hits the fan? Product testing, torture, and personal reference is key. If you can afford to have multiples obviously you want them, but with weapons sights that run $600 plus that’s not always practical.With that said, what items should you buy cheap and buy often? No skills when SHTF, what’s your worth?

This week on the “The Prepping Academy” Forrest and Tenderfoot are going to be discussing if you have not skills during a SHTF scenario you are worthless to others. This will be hard for some to take but it’s true.Preppers have a bad reputation for hoarding gear, stocking up on a year’s-worth (or more) of food, and packing bug out bags that could supply a platoon. In almost all cases, these preppers would be screwed if there were a disaster or SHTF. Gear and supplies are useless unless you still have it when you need it, and know how to use them.The precept of knowledge weighing nothing has been a long-term idea in my thinking. I love learning how to do things and how to adapt my surroundings by adapting what I have available for new purposes. Also, if something like a regional disaster hits your area, you may be surviving with only what you have on you at that moment and all that stuff you collected will be useless. So Knowledge and Skills are King.Skills won’t run out, and in a prolonged emergency that makes them far more valuable for trade than anything else. You don’t have to be an expert at every survival skill to survive a disaster–very few people have mastered all the skills. Prepper Camp is the largest out door national event for preppers held in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It takes place at Orchard Lake Campground located in Saluda, North Carolina. The campground venue allows preppers to experience preparedness information, survival skills, and camp-craft activities like no other preparedness conference.You may remember Survivor Jane as being our very first guest on air. These folks don’t make a great amount of money off these events and they do a tremendously great job of emulating what prepping is truly about being prepared and helping others. Prepping Academy on the Riots in Charlotte, N. C.

Discussing the mounting tension between police and protesters; as well has having a live interview in player below with Charlotte Mecklenburg’s District 5 county commissioner Matthew Ridenhour.This last week Keith Lamont Scott was shot and killed by a CMPD officer. All initial reports from the police report claim that Scott has a firearm and was not complying with officers orders. A video of the events was released by the family early Friday, but the location of the gun is not easily observed in this video. Scott’s family maintains a position of innocence and is trying to demonize the events a protest did take place. Initial elements of the protest were peaceful. Unfortunately a small, but growing fraction of that element broke off and turned to violence. police department as we’ve seen nationwide.Like with many of these Within hours the looting of a local Walmart, random attacks on whites, blocking of major highways, and deployment of the police occurred. Police engaged what the media calls “protesters” with tear gas and flash bangs to disperse the crowd. By night three it has become abundantly clear that these are not simply protesters. CMPD is reporting that up to 70% of the arrested individuals are coming in from other states. Some of these folks are reported to have been at the Ferguson riots as well.Listen in with Forrest and Kyle for this show as they discuss the events more in depth.
