PreacHer: Dr. Jen Hale Christy
Summary: God tells Jonah to go. And the funny thing is, when you think about modern-day missionaries, they have a really hard time getting funding to go to places that may not be receptive. But with Jonah--he knows that they’ll turn from their ways, that they’ll repent and want to come back to YHWH. There’s no question in his mind that they’ll accept his message. He just doesn’t want to deliver it. It’s not fair. Why should they be forgiven and allowed back in?

Summary: The book of Hosea has long been one of my favorite stories. The first three chapters especially--though dark and haunting--contain the most beautiful story of love ever. It is not the story of Hosea loving Gomer despite her prostitution. Rather, it is God loving me despite mine. It is the timeless story of the persons and people of God believing themselves to be faithful to YHWH even as we chase false lovers and the unremitting steadfast commitment of YHWH to the bride.

Summary: Grandmother Ruth was born during the Depression Era and was married to a preacher for more than 75 years. She passed away October, 2021 and this episode is the eulogy I should have given. (Note: selections from Proverbs 31 are woven throughout)
