Do you like scary movies?

Robert, Jordan, and Sarah are back to discuss the 1996 slasher "Scream"! Directed by Wes Craven, Scream would go on to completely revitalize the genre and even got a few sequels out of it. So with the recent release of the fifth installment, the Pop Kannon crew decided it would be a great time to travel back to the mid-90s and talk about the original!
We go over what worked for us, including subverting expectations with the beginning of the film, the acting, the way Ghostface gets his ass kicked, and the meta approach the movie takes. We also cover some things that didn't work for us, including the use of anamorphic lenses affecting the image quality, the music, and the internal logic of the killer and his plan!

So pull the phone closer and listen carefully as we take you through our thoughts on Scream!

"So what? No fuckin' ziti now?" With the release of the prequel film "The Many Saints of Newark: A Sopranos Story" upon us, we decided now would be the best time to go all the way back to the year 1999 and continue our S1E1 series with THE SOPRANOS. Join us as Robert, Jordan and Sarah discuss the massively successful HBO original series written and directed by creator David Chase.

Jordan and Sarah give their first impressions of seeing the show, while Robert reflects on his first exposure to it and how his opinion has evolved after seeing the show through twice. We break down the character of Tony Soprano and talk about the way the show treats anxiety and depression. We discuss the decision to try to ground the show in reality by highlighting the relationships between Tony and his immediate family, praise some of the filmmaking techniques used, and if the pilot episode was enough to sell us on the series! All this AND MORE in another special S1E1 episode of Pop Kannon!

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration."
Part ONE of Denis Villeneuve's "DUNE" has taken over theaters and HBOMax and this week on Pop Kannon, Joe, Jordan and Robert gave it a watch and give their thoughts on this massive sci-fi epic.
This episode was recorded prior to the official announcement of a part two from Lionsgate, so we talk about the possibility of a sequel film. Other topics range from the filmmaking; such as the sound design, the color grading, and lighting of the planet Arrakis. We discuss whether or not the film works for someone new to the source material, and we even choose our favorite characters and scenes.

"Are you sure you want to do that, Mr Whitman?"
Marvel's Eternals have finally made their appearance in the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert, Jordan, and Joe ventured out to their theaters to check it out, and in the 66th episode of Pop Kannon, the guys spill their guts about the 7,000 years the Eternals spent on Earth.
In this episode, we dig into the diverse cast and complex characters, including the relationship between Sersi & Ikaris. We ponder whether or not this movie fits in with the rest of the MCU, if the humor was effective, and we debate if it was a good idea or not to reference DC Comics characters. We also comment on the mid and post-credits scenes, and theorize about the future (and past) of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
