After years of rumors and discussion, The Simpsons was finally turned into a movie in 2007. Did it meet the high expectations? Does it have the spirit of the show still in tact? We break down the movie and whether it lived up to the hype.
More importantly, though, are our memories of the series. So we finish things up by drafting our top five favorite episodes. This one is a fun look back. Don't have a cow, man, and tune in now! Cowabunga dude! Woo hoo!

Several episodes back we discussed R.E.M.'s Automatic for the People. Look back if you missed it! But that episode has led to further R.E.M. discussion with the great Dave Zalatoris from the Beer in Front Podcast. We are collaborating this week to bring you not one, but two new R.E.M.-centered episodes. You can hear about the back half of the catalog on his show in a couple days.
This episode focuses on everything from Chronic Town though the big breakthrough Out of Time. We share our stories of falling in love with the band and then draft our favorite songs from this time period. Enjoy!

C-c-c-c-c'mon! It's time to revisit one of our favorite albums of the 80s: Faith by George Michael from 1987. Tons of hit singles, great videos, and a lot of specific nostalgia all came out of this solo debut. We share all those wonderful memories and break down each track.
Then we get draftin'. Since George Michael was in Wham! first, then became even bigger on his own, we draft our favorite artists who had great solo careers after being in a group (or in some cases even going back and forth).

This is a special episode as not only do we discuss a great show we all enjoyed, Married...with Children; but we also get to do it by interviewing one of the main writers of the show itself, Richard Gurman. His recently released book Married... with Children vs. the World: The Inside Story of the Shock-Com that Launched FOX and Changed TV Comedy Forever contains many behind the scenes anecdotes and interviews with some of the most important people from the show, like Ed O'Neill.

In our interview, he shares many great stories any fan of the show, or even just television, would enjoy. Settle in for a good time!

Pop Culture Yearbook - 2016: Popstar / Best Fictional Bands and Musical Artists

Andy Samberg is very popular, The Lonely Island took SNL by storm, this movie contains cameos from many of the biggest stars in entertainment; so why was Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping such a box office bomb? We'll hit on that in this episode, but we'll focus more on the brilliance of the writing and the music, which has made this initial bomb now a cult classic that is slowly gaining the audience it deserves.
Connor4Real and the Style Boyz are excellent fictional artists. We'll cap off the episode by drafting our favorite fictional bands and musical artists from TV and Film. So turn it up. This one goes to 11.

More guests! This week we welcome Dave and Rob from the Totally 80s and 90s Recall podcast! On their show they cover all kinds of great movies and music, and you must check them out. In this episode they've been tasked with drafting the biggest box office hits from the decades they cover, but with a twist.
For our last choice, we are picking the opposite of a hit. We are dropping a bomb. All participants are choosing a movie that they love but meets two specific criteria: it must have made less than $50M at the box office AND it must have received less than 50% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
Tune in to learn about their show and see what awesome bombs we all discovered!

Pop Culture Yearbook - 1993: Music of 1993 with Brian Colburn

1993 was a spectacular year for music, especially if you were in high school like the hosts of this show. So much great music and so many great memories happened at this time. To commemorate it, we're bringing in a special guest: Brian Colburn from the My Weekly Mixtape and Playlist Wars podcasts. His extensive knowledge only adds to the fun.
We talk about our memories of the year, then start drafting. First, we draft our top five albums of 1993. Next, we draft our top 5 songs of 1993. We cover a lot of ground, but there's even more out there. Listen to see if your favorites make the cut or to rediscover something you may have even forgotten.

You voted and you chose this week's topic: Major League! We have loved this movie since its release in 1989. Definitely in the conversation for best sports movie ever, we talk about the great characters, lines, scenes, and moments that make it so great.
One of the best moments is Rick Vaughn's entrance to "Wild Thing." In honor of that moment, we draft our favorite uses of music in movie sports scenes. It wasn't the easiest list to create, but the choices are all memorable.
