Is Confession Biblical? Debunking Protestant Comebacks to John 20:23

04/24/25 • -1 min

Podcast | Karlo Broussard

Episode 127: Second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday | Year C

In today’s episode, we focus only on the Gospel reading for this upcoming Divine Mercy Sunday, which is John 20:19-31, the famous passage where Jesus tells the apostles, “If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven. If you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” The obvious apologetical topic is the Sacrament of Confession. But for this episode, our particular focus will be on Protestant comebacks to the sacramental reading of this text.

Episode 126: Year C | Easter Sunday

In today’s episode, we focus on the readings for this upcoming Resurrection of the Lord, Year C. I’d like to focus on the details in the first reading, taken from Acts 10:34a, 37-43, and the Gospel reading, taken from John 20:1-9, that relate to alternative theories to the literal-bodily resurrection of Jesus. The theories that will come to the fore are the Conspiracy theory, the Grave Robbery theory, and the Hallucination theory. There is also a detail in the first reading that relates to the historical credibility of Luke’s reporting.
