As Andrew Bagby’s parents Kate and David struggle with the loss of their only son Andrew, his ex-girlfriend Shirley Turner is finally charged with his murder after fleeing to her home in Canada. What occurs over the next 2 years involves even more tragedy and would have the Bagby’s fighting a long drawn out battle in court for custody of their grandchild Zachary, before lobbying for Criminal Code changes in Canada with respect to bail law.

On the morning of November 6, 2001, a park ranger working in Keystone State Park in Derry Township, Pennsylvania discovered the body of a male in the parking lot. The man had been shot 5 times in the face, the chest, the buttocks and the back of the head with CCI .22 bullets. The victim was identified by his parents as 28 year old Andrew Bagby, who was a resident doctor with a family practice in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. It didn’t take long for Pennsylvania State Police to identify Andrew’s ex-girlfriend Shirley Turner as a primary suspect in his murder.
