The Chapter 4 Panel Discussion runs over 2 podcasts – this is Part 2. In this podcast our panel continues to discuss Ouspensky’s ideas about the past, present and future. We explore questions like - Is the future preordained or does it depend on the events of the past? And what of the past- has it really disappeared, no longer exists, gone – or does it exist in the same way the future does, undetermined and equally existing in all possibilities? In this part of the chapter Ouspensky poses and answers 2 questions – ‘Why does there exist in the world illusionary motion?’ and ‘Why cannot consciousness extend that slit?’. Finally we discuss Ouspensky’s hypothesis, put forward by Hinton, that our third dimension is possibly the surface between two higher dimensions.

Ouspensky has so much to say in this chapter that we are covering our panel discussion of it in 2 parts. In this part 1 and here our panel discusses Ouspensky’s ideas about time and the possibility that time and the concept of the passing of time is in reality a motion on a space in a higher dimension. We explore Ouspensky’s analysis of the past, present and future and examine what the present moment is – does it really exist as a point in time or is it just a transient point between the past and the future? And finally we discuss Ouspensky's ideas on how consciousness fits into all of these questions.
