The older I get, the more I realise 10-year-old me knew what was best for me – at least fundamentally. In many ways, he was wiser, simpler, and happier.

Employers need to embrace flextime, telecommuting and remote workers. Otherwise, they'll find themselves competing with millennial-owned companies that do. All that's needed is an understanding of the needs of both parties, and an agreement that helps both get what they want.

We live in a time where the rate of change is accelerating faster than our parents ever imagined. Businesses large and small are frequently dying or consolidating, meaning our jobs today are far from certain.

Having additional sources of revenue is the best way to ensure you won't be tossed on the scrap heap and forced to eat out of garbage cans should you become 'surplus to requirements'. And freelancing is one of the quickest and most sensible paths towards a second source of income.
