Health And Fitness, Snacks, and Essentials for Trekking in Peru
Peru Travel Podcast
01/16/18 • 16 min
Welcome to the Peru Travel Podcast!
In this episode, we cover everything fitness, training, gear, and nutrition to make sure you are successful on your Inca Trail, Salkantay Trek, or Extreme Inca Tour. We discuss the training that you should do so you don't end up hating your life while out on the treks. Your best bet is to slap a backpack on with some weight and go for a hike a few times prior to your trip to Peru.
David talks about the nutrition required so that you have enough energy to sustain yourself on a difficulty multiday hike. At Cachi Life, we love Clif Bars and Beef Jerky. Just don't eat all your snacks on the first day. And it's probably best to avoid the booze.
What is the best gear to bring that you may not think of? You shouldn't leave without your toothbrush or toothpaste. But, we REALLY like baby wipes. It can be tough to keep that clean feeling when you haven't been able to shower for four days.
Finally, we cover why you NEED to book your trip on the Inca Trail at least 6 months ahead. For those of you who missed out, there is the Salkantay Trek, which may be even more beautiful.

Why Cachi Guides Rock
Peru Travel Podcast
05/14/18 • 20 min
The guys continue to reminisce about their recent trip to Peru. The guys test out their newly offered Extreme Inca Tour with one of their guides while in Peru. They go whitewater rafting, hiking, learn about coffee, and go ziplining. After the experience, they contrast and compare to what you may get compared to other tour companies in Peru.
They talk to a few groups who are doing a similar tour with another company. Come to find out the other company uses hotels with cold showers and has no WiFi. In addition, the other company's guide doesn’t speak much English, and even when they were supposed to get a guided tour of Machu Picchu...... the tour guide bounced.
The guys talk about how this will not happen with Cachi. You will have warm showers, nice beds, WiFi, English-speaking tour guides, and your guide will be with you every step of the way.
At the end of the day, a trip to Peru is a trip of a lifetime and they want to make sure that you are taken care of when you go.

Peru Packing Must Haves for Your Bag
Peru Travel Podcast
04/18/18 • 12 min
One of the big-ticket items to bring when traveling to Peru includes baby wipes. Especially when trekking or due to the smog, baby wipes help to feel fresh after a long day of activity.
If you’re out trekking on the Inca Trail or Salkantay Trek, we recommend you bring some baby powder. If you end up chafing, you’re not gonna feel good on a multi-day hike. That’s gonna hurt...
If you don’t speak Spanish, don’t get nervous. That’s why we love the power of the internet. Google Translate is an excellent resource to help you communicate.
It’s also a good idea to bring some cash. Cash is king. But we do lay out some cost-saving tips if you have a credit card.
Finally, if you want to try all the amazing street food, don’t forget your Pepto-Bismol tablets. It’s gonna save your stomach.

Be sure to be on the lookout for the latest including an awesome Machu Picchu guidebook in the coming months.
Finally, we were able to deliver over 70 children Christmas gifts in the Rayan Community and we talk about how why are trying to give back to them and how we hope we can send more people up to the community and help more in the future.
