Hi there and a very warm welcome to Season 5 Episode 37 of People Soup – it’s Ross McIntosh here.
For the Festive Season - we're looking back at some of our fabulous expert guests. Our first People Soup Rewind - is with Dr Kevin Teoh. In my Spotify wrapped for podcasters this year - this was the most popular episode - so it definitely deserves another airing.
Kevin is a Senior Lecturer and the Programme Director for the MSc in Organizational Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London. If you haven't listened to Part One you can catch it here He's also the Executive Officer, European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology. In part two of our chat we focus on Kevin's research and his thoughts on how workplaces are designed, organised and managed, what's known as the psychosocial context or the psychosocial working conditions - and what we're really trying to develop is a healthy workplace.. Such is Kevin's generosity in sharing his thoughts that this whole episode is like a takeaway banquet. To hear Kevin speak is really thought provoking and you'll hear him talk about his consulting approach, the workplace themes he's noticing, how organisations can sometimes see well-being as a tick box exercise and his simple recommendations for a step by step approach to organisational health.

Hi there and a very warm welcome to Season 5 Episode 48 of People Soup – it’s Ross McIntosh here.
P Soupers - I'm delighted to introduce you to Dr Sarah Pegrum. Sarah is a clinical psychologist, peer reviewed ACT trainer, Curator of the ACT BODY Project and Author of the book - Break the Binds of Weight Stigma. Free Yourself from Body Image Struggles Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
In this episode - you'll find out a bit more about Sarah - in particular three pivotal moments in her life - which involved being told she wasn't enough, the loss of her mother, discovering ACT, moving from Australia to Canada and realising that she was hiding from the world AND feeling disconnected and unfulfilled and of course she shares what she did in response to that realisation. You'll also hear Sarah's song choice. Now - P-Soupers - at times the sound quality isn't perfect - I've tried every which way to enhance the recording for your listening pleasure, including a sound engineer - Soooo just a reminder there is a transcript if you don't catch every word and at one point - I do jump in and repeat Sarah's words - just so you don't miss out on her inspirational story due to a fade in the recording.

Hi there and a very warm welcome to Season 6 Episode 3 of People Soup, it's Ross McIntosh here.
In this episode I continue my collaboration with Dr Richard MacKinnon that started in Season 5. We're continuing our exploration of the processes of ACT and psychological flexibility. The ingredients we're bringing to People Soup in this episode are personal values - and our exploration is thorough and deep. It's like everything you wanted to know about personal values but were afraid to ask. We cover what they are, to what they're not and how we can clarify our values and bring them to life.
For those of you who are new to People Soup - welcome - it's great to have you here - I aim to provide you with ingredients for a better work life from behavioural science and beyond. For those of you who are regular P Soupers - thanks for tuning in - we love it that you're part of our community.

A very warm welcome to Season 5 Episode 1 of People Soup.
Our first guest is Dr Jutta Tobias Mortlock, a social psychologist from City, University of London who is the co-director of the Centre for Excellence in Mindfulness Research.
Jutta's research explores next generation mindfulness, which means using the science of mindfulness at a collaborative, team level. In this episode you'll hear a bit about Jutta's career history, the breadth of her mindfulness exploration and the motivation for her current research. It was such a fascinating chat that I've decided to spread the joy and split the conversation over three episodes. Mindfulness is often misunderstood and I felt it was important to give it a thorough airing for the P-Soupers to reflect and digest.
People Soup is an award winning podcast where we share evidence based behavioural science, in a way that’s practical, accessible and fun to help you glow to work a bit more often.
Another first for Season 5 is that I'm adding a transcript, wherever possible. There is a caveat - this transcript is largely generated by Artificial Intelligence, I have corrected many errors but I won't have captured them all!

Hi there and a very warm welcome to Season 5 Episode 56 of People Soup – it’s Ross McIntosh here.
P Soupers - it's the third part of our mini series - my new collaboration with Dr Richard MacKinnon from WorkLifePsych - where we delve into all things related to psychological flexibility and ACT. We're aiming to show you how relevant it is - not only to your work life, but your whole life. Listen on to part 3A of the mini series where we introduce and begin to explore the process of cognitive defusion. We talk about how our unhelpful thoughts can be grabby, sticky and loud, we consider how they impact on our behaviour and reflect on the liberating phrase - "A thought is just a thought".
