THE ANCIENT ART OF MEDITATION (S1 E5)
Some forms of meditation require an emptying of the mind. The ancient art of meditation described in the Hebrew Bible is a process of filling the mind with words from God and then displacing toxic thoughts with them.

Meditation is first mentioned in the Bible, with Isaac as he prayed for a wife.
Isaac went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. Genesis 24:63
“Meditate” here is the Hebrew word, sûwach: to muse with deep thought.
1. GATHER YOUR TOXIC THOUGHTS
I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
You kept my eyes from closing;
I was too troubled to speak.
I thought about the former days,
the years of long ago;
I remembered my songs in the night.
Psalm 77:3-6
“Meditate” here is the Hebrew word sîyach: to ponder, i.e. (by implication) converse (with oneself, and hence, aloud) or (transitively) utter:—commune, complain, declare, meditate, muse, pray, speak, talk (with).
2. REFLECT ON HEALING THOUGHTS
Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3
Meditation is speaking aloud the promises of God so they grow like trees within your mind and eventually into your brain.
“Meditate” here is the Hebrew word hâgâh: to murmur (in pleasure or anger); by implication, to ponder:—imagine, meditate, mourn, mutter, roar, sore, speak, study, talk, utter, like a lion over his prey.
3. WRITE HEALING THOUGHTS DOWN TO MAKE THEM PART OF YOU.
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8
Writing is a part of mediation because of the connection between your brain and your hand.
4. REVISIT HEALING THOUGHTS FOR 21 DAYS
Keep a photo album in your phone of answers to prayer.
Rejoicing is recycling old joy for a new time where there may be little to be joyful about.
5. REACH FOR A GOOD ACTION TO OVERCOME TOXIC THOUGHT
I reach out for your commands, which I love,
that I may meditate on your decrees. Psalm 119:48
“In the Mass we have Jesus in the appearance of bread, while in the slums we see Christ and touch him in the broken bodies, in the abandoned children,” Mother Teresa.

YOU DESERVE REST (S1 E7)
We live in a restless world. Jesus was the master of rest. Jesus did not seek rest. Jesus lived from rest.
“For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:8

In rest you find God and God finds you.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Rest is not earned, it is a gift. You are not a human doing, you are a human being.
Rest is a confession that we are not God, the Lord is God. When you make Jesus Lord of the rest, he takes care of the rest.
Here are three ways to activate sabbath into your life
Divert Daily—Like Jesus, seek a quiet place to pray each day.
Withdraw Weekly—Like Jesus, seek the house of worship each week.
Abandon Annually—Like Jesus, schedule vacation, to vacate your work and to rest.
