Parents' Rights Now!

Parents' Rights Now!

Suzanne Gallagher

PARENTS’ RIGHTS IN EDUCATION
We represent millions of voices standing up for families, united for natural parents’ rights in the K-12 education system.

Local control, where school boards set policies honoring all students, and families must be restored.

We reject any indoctrination of school children with extreme pedagogy.

We support the proper role of K-12 academic education, focused on core skills, and preparing students for success. We reject controversial sexualization and racist doctrine.

We reject current practice by public school staff facilitating mental health counseling, medical treatment and procedures without parent knowledge, circumventing the relationship between parents and children.

We are here to provide parents tools, so they can stand against those stealing their rights. Stand with us!

The Emperor's New Clothes, by Hans Christenson Anderson
Today is Friday, February 18. We lost the recording to be aired yesterday, so are doing it today. That’s show biz!

This podcast is gaining momentum! We have reached a milestone: over 10,000 downloads! It’s great to know you are listening! That’s something, since this is new to me. Now I am encouraged to expand our reach. I hope you will continue to listen and share these episodes. From the beginning I believed this is one of the best ways to reach parents. I know you have very little opportunity to read lengthy articles or research materials on websites. PRIEs website is one of the best resources out there. Please use it when searching for more info. The show notes here are provided so you can do just that.

I spoke with a woman earlier this week about the dynamics associated with our issues today. Isn’t it incredulous people seem so ready to believe anything they are told? They don’t question the validity. For example the transgender issue. Basic understanding of biology would lead most to doubt the premise one can “change their sex” by using cross sex hormones, and remove body parts. Even more astounding is the notion, pre-pubescent youth should be stopped from going through puberty, and school counselors should identify those students and keep their decision from their parents. And this ridiculous reasoning can applied to mask and vaccine mandates, and other lame excuses for restricting freedoms and controlling citizens. In addition, what is more astounding is the willingness of the people to be controlled!

A fairy tale came to mind as we talked, The Emperor’s New Clothes, by Hans Christian Anderson. Have you read it? We often use the phrase when making a point, but do we know the story? I decided to share it with you.

Hans Christian Anderson was a Dane, born in 1805. He is recognized around the world for his books, including The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina, The Little Match Girl, The Princess and the Pea, and many others. He endured many hardships and, by some accounts, transformed his pain into art. His fairy tales were highlighted in a movie in 1952, and he became a household favorite. His stories always had a meaning.

The Emperor's New Clothes, by Hans Christenson Anderson

This is particularly interesting in light of the times.

Fast forward to today! Who is the emperor? And who are the swindlers? I love this allegory. We must be continually vigilant to expose truth, although our nature is to leave the details of government in the hands of experts, not questioning their opinions. Like the “councillors, ministers, and men of great importance” in the story, we are prone to go

Welcome to another episode of Parents' Rights in Education with your host, Suzanne Gallagher.

In our first segment, we're touching base with the state of education around the country. Highlighted events include The Great Northwest Awakening and our regular Zoom calls and trainings - don't miss out! Visit our website for more details. We are also tracking critical legislation like Virginia's SB 1072, aiming to better address bullying, and Texas' controversial SB 14, which deals with youths' access to transgender medical treatment. In organizational updates, we've introduced a new feature to select your affiliate group and celebrate the addition of 5 new affiliate leaders in Oregon and Washington.

Returning to our second segment, we've got good news - our movement is making strides! In 2022, 85 parents’ rights bills were introduced across 26 states, while 2023 has already seen 62 bills in 24 states. All of these efforts aim to increase parental involvement and transparency in education. This shows we're making an impact and will continue fighting for parents’ rights.

In our final segment, we delve into a topic of much debate - Comprehensive Sexual Education. Promoted as an inclusive and age-appropriate approach, it is being seen by many as explicit and incentivizing early sexual activity. Organizations like Planned Parenthood, the WHO, and the ACLU are backing this. As an example, programs like EXCLAIM! suggest that young people need varied sexual experiences for their health. This raises concerns about parental involvement and when a child should learn about sexual activity.

As we wrap up, remember that joining our cause ensures you have a say in your child's education. Become a member today and join the fight for parents’ rights in education. Until next time, stay strong and engaged. Thank you for tuning in.

Parents' Rights Now! - SCHOOL BOARD POWER, IT STARTS HERE.

We are in the last week of campaigning for school board positions in the state of Oregon. We are busy with endorsements and GOTV efforts right now.

Those who have never been involved in the election process are involved. They are astounded how much work it is, and how mean the other side can be. Everything from stealing or destroying campaign signs to outright slander applies to these contests. Candidates have called me saying they want to die, or I never would have done this had I known... these are folks who vowed they would stand up for their convictions, and nothing could deter them.

Please know that a political race is never personal. It sure feels personal because you values are under attack, but those attacks are because of your stand, not you personally. What does it mean to take a stand. For me that means to decide exactly when enough is enough, and where will I draw the line. It is about principle, not compromises. The Left has no intention of stopping until they have full control. When you open the door to compromise, it is the beginning of a slippery slope to loss of individual freedom and rights.
Your opponent will do whatever it takes to keep you from gaining their seat. Once you win you ma be compelled to hold your seat without much ability to achieve your goals until the next election. The reason is, unless you have a majority of like minded individuals on your board, your power is limited.

You might be wondering why this seems to be a new revelation... Young parents are just learning about the School Board. They weren’t aware of the policy changes in just the last 5-10 years taking away their rights and mandating curriculum without their input. Maybe some earlier board members did not anticipate the radical implications to their decisions. My belief is the role of education has been stretched out of control, to the point we no longer have educational institutions. It’s time to restore the proper role of education, and get the ball rolling at the local level.

School Boards can do it by passing policies that reflect the wishes of the parents, but parents have to speak up and ask!

New Age Nanny State White PaperParents' Rights In Education WebsiteSocial Emotional Learning Issues PageDONATE TODAY!
In a nutshell, SEL is latest educational fad teaching students to rely on themselves, their peers, and the progressive culture, not the truths proposed by their faith and their families. Progressive social norms become their moral authority. PRIE opposes the “whole child” concept, including character and ethics education, psychological insights, and group dynamics, training children in consequentialist (moral relativism) moral reasoning.

The current popularity of social-emotional learning (SEL) represents progressive education’s greatest victory in its 100-plus-year campaign to transform our public schools, and, thus, the nature of America itself. Since it began, the mission of progressive education has been to liberate American students from the “shackles of traditional wisdom.” John Dewey and his legion of educationalists saw the elementary and secondary schools as the vehicle to form the New American, one who would be liberated from the prejudices of family, church, and tradition.

In the early 20th century, their ideological victories were largely symbolic. They captured intellectually shallow schools of education, but not the public schools themselves. Those schools were rooted in their communities, reflecting local values and governed by local citizens. Post-World War II, the “in loco parentis” tradition of school gave way to more and more control, first by states and more recently by federal intervention. Input from parents on what was to be learned and how schools were to be conducted gave way to ever larger educational commissions and more distant experts.

Instead of parents’ deciding on the ultimate question of education, “What is most worth knowing?” for our children, the new controllers of public education stepped in. Enter the progressive educators. The term “public” came to mean “secular.” The long-held view of the public schools—not only teaching the core disciplines, but also helping children develop a sense of right and wrong and the good habits to put morality into practice—became the battleground. The wisdom of the past, with its history of wars and bigotry, had to be ignored. Prohibited, too, was any reference to God and organized religion. The only source of moral authority for the secular progressives was and is science and “empirically verifiable knowledge.”

The problem with this plan is that science and the empirical method do not lend themselves well to dealing with the questions of the moral life. The ultimate questions of life, which were once a staple of an education, such as “What is a good person?” “How should I live my life?” and “Is there a God?” cannot be answered by the scientific method. Thus, these questions and issues have been eradicated from our schools.

Into this barren educational landscape entered the

SEL is now a global phenomenon. For example, in 2017 the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) launched its Study on Social and Emotional Skills (SSES). OECD has long administered the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) test to measure academic knowledge, but now is branching out into methods of measuring and shaping students’ personalities.

The SSES will analyze two cohorts of students, at ages 10 and 15, to determine what social-emotional skills they have and should have, and to develop “international instruments” to measure such skills. The extraordinarily intrusive study will survey students, parents, teachers, and education administrators to gather data on “children’s [social-emotional] skills, . . family background, child’s performance, home learning environment, parent-child relationship, parental style, learning activities, and parents’ own attitudes and opinion.” SSES will also analyze information from students’ interaction with online instruments to surveil “what people do, think, or feel, when interacting with, and responding to, the item or task.”

Regardless of its reliability, the mountains of data from the study will be crunched to produce assessments, perhaps to be linked to PISA and other OECD academic assessments. The goal is to measure students’ performance in the five broad domains (known to psychologists as the “Big Five model”) of “emotional regulation (emotional stability); engaging with others (extroversion); collaboration (agreeableness); task performance (conscientiousness); [and] open-mindedness (openness).”

On the theory that such traits are malleable and can be taught, SSES aims to determine how to mold students into people most useful to the government and the economy. Analysis by the Middle East North African Financial Network (MENAFN) reported that OECD’s reason for developing “the test is that social and emotional skills are important predictors of educational progress and future workplace performance. Large-scale personality data is therefore presumed by the OECD to be predictive of a country’s potential social and economic progress.”

OECD is also working to implement a similar assessment for the preschool age group. Its International Early Learning Study (IELS), being piloted in partnership with the U.S. National Center for Education Statistics, seeks to focus:

... on young children and their cognitive and non-cognitive skills and competencies as they transition to primary school. The IELS is designed to examine: children’s early learning and development in a broad range of domains, including social emotional skills as well as cognitive skills; the relationship between children’s early learning and children’s participation in early childhood education and care (ECEC); the role of contextual factors, including children’s individual characteristics and their home backgrounds and experiences, in promoting young c

Parents' Rights Now! - K-12 SCHOOLS MESSING WITH OUR KIDS? IT ENDS HERE!
play

04/11/23 • 12 min

Tell us whatcha' think! Send a text to us, here! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our podcast.

It ends here!

Say what? What ends here? The stealing of parents rights. It has to stop! Messing with our kids while they are in school is not acceptable. Stop messing with our kids!

If it doesn’t stop, the government will eventually achieve complete and total control of our children. Don’t think it can happen? You bet it can. History is full of examples.

Ask your elders if they remember WWII. My grandparents immigrated to the US from Germany after WWI. My dad served in the Army Air Force in WWII. I remember at age 10 listening to my grandmother’s cousin talk about the Nazis storming into her home during the war.

The only way we are going to stop it is IF we never give up. And I mean NEVER!

I know, because I did give up, more than once. I discovered the reality of the government called public school in the early 90’s when our three children were in grade and Middle school. The school board made it clear, they did not have anything to do with curriculum. Welcome to the bureaucratic shuffle!

So I gave up, because of that AND the lack of interest by most people. They didn’t seem to care. Decided to start an art and interior design business.

Later, I ran for the Oregon House of Representatives. Lost by a handful of votes. Quit agin.

Ran again for Senate, lost. Quit again.

Do you see the pattern? Losing an election is not really quitting.

Parents’ Rights In Education has always been the issue for me. When I took the role of Executive Director in 2018, I determined we can never give up. There are no election dates related to our rights. No one can put a hard stop on this cause.

Parents rights are natural inalienable rights which should be protected, not taken away by the government.

It ends here!

Summery / Comments:

In this episode, the focus is on a united effort to protect children's education while highlighting the critical role parents play. Parents are encouraged to access free tools, training, and community support available on parentsrightsandeducation.com, and to help boost the cause by leaving a five-star review.

Host Suzanne Gallagher shares news of forthcoming events, including interactive speaking sessions and Zoom meetings tailored for parents. With the "back to school" season in mind, she emphasizes the importance of having "pre affiliates" in every school district to ensure parents have local points of contact and support. The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) is discussed in depth. It's a tool that allows parents to keep tabs on the curriculum, selectively opt out of activities, and secure their child’s privacy. Suzanne underscores the importance of parental intervention in curriculum choices and survey decisions to safeguard children's personal boundaries.

A significant part of the episode also covers the hot topics of vaccine mandates and mask requirements in schools. Suzanne stresses that parents have the right to file exemption forms for their children and calls upon parents to challenge mandates that contradict their beliefs. She also speaks about the potential adverse effects of continuous mask-wearing on children's physical and emotional health.

Later in the episode, listeners are treated to an insightful chat with Kirryn Jensen, a hopeful school board candidate from Washington State. She explains her reasons for running, particularly her concerns about bullying, violence, and ensuring a safe environment in schools. Kirryn also emphasizes the need for clear communication between school boards and communities and the necessity for accountability.

The episode concludes with a rousing call to action, urging listeners to join the movement and vocalize their concerns. The end goal? To solidify parents' rights and ensure a safe, nurturing learning atmosphere for every child. This episode is tailored to resonate with parents with a conservative perspective and a 10th-grade education level.

Governor Kate Brown announces new statewide measures to address rising COVID-19 hospitalizations

By Shannon McKone on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021

Union County Sheriff sends letter to Governor Brown
LA GRANDE — On Friday, August 13th, Union County Sheriff Cody Bowen released a letter directed to Oregon Governor Kate Brown in response to the mask and vaccine mandates recently enacted by the Oregon Governor.

Governor Kate Brown,
08/13/21

I write to you today in hopes of opening a dialogue and as a last resort to put you on notice that we the people of Union County, Oregon have had enough!

Enough of your overreaching mandates! Enough of your bullying threats. Enough of you dictating our state by fear. You have once again initiated what many consider to be an unconstitutional mandate requiring our children to wear a mask while in school. You have gone so far as to threaten our teacher’s livelihoods and their ability to provide for their family with fines and certification revocations if they don’t enforce your mandate. You have backed our school board members into a corner even though the east side of the state has expressed a desire to have local control over these situations.

Leaders listen to their constituents. You have continued in a long line of politicians who ignore the will of the people on the east side of the state. You sit on the opposite side of the state and dictate with a heavy hand. You ramble off your orders to Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Education telling them to carry out your mindless orders or face the consequences of your threats. You are inflicting more damage to our children than any virus could ever do, and you hide behind the misrepresentation that you care for us all. You ma’am care nothing about our children or the people of Eastern Oregon.

As Sheriff of Union County I took an oath to uphold the Constitution and stand up and defend the people of this beautiful county we call home. We have the God given right to freedom and the God given right to choose what is best for ourselves and our children. Let us do so.

We will raise our children how we see fit. We will choose to wear a mask or choose not to wear a mask. We will choose to get vaccinated or choose not to get vaccinated. Your mindless dictates will no longer be tolerated.

Sheriff
