Most of us know that during the teenage years, peers are more influential than parents. But new research has found that parents do have significant impact on whether their teens move on from an experimental sip to binge drinking. The best way to do that is to have an Authoritative parenting style? Now, what is that? We’re glad you asked! There are 4 parenting styles and although most will have characteristics that overlap all four categories—and all parents develop their own distinct style over time—most will identify with one of the four styles. Today we’re talking about those 4 parenting styles and how to change to be Authoritative if you aren’t already. We don’t have teenagers yet, but we think this can help parents with kids at home at any age and especially as parents get to those teenage years. Here are the links to the websites we referred to throughout the episode.https://magazine.byu.edu/article/understanding-improving-parenting-style/https://www.mother.ly/news/new-york-changing-table-law-dads-change-diapers?fbclid=IwAR0NsDLUI3iYffOmybylJtzCn2fmjp4hUZJ1PScvYGYpbU-pI7wTnYZ2vP8Don't forget to follow us on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/pirlpodcast/ or https://www.instagram.com/lorikeetsistersIf you would like to support us, you can go to https://www.patreon.com/PIRLAnd leave us review!
