The Panthers began their 2024 MVC Tournament run with a 67-62 victory over the #5 seeded Belmont Bruins Friday afternoon. Tytan Anderson set a career and Panther post-season high with 19 rebounds, while notching a double-double with 19 points. Panthers also got 14 points from Jacob Hutson, 13 from Nate Heise and 11 from Trey Campbell. UNI's defense held Belmont to a season low in points and under 65 for just the third time this season. Up next is a showdown with the top seeded Indiana State Sycamores on Saturday in the semifinals at 2:30.

Know what we call our group of calls of the game for Panther Basketball? Claw Calls of course.

The Panthers won their 3rd straight game with an 83-72 win at Belmont, their 4th MVC win in their last 5 games. The win also tied Head Coach Ben Jacobson with Henry Iba for the most all time coaching wins in MVC games. Nate Heise led the way again with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Trey Campbell had 15 points while Bowen Born and Tytan Anderson both had 13. UNI has now held 5 of their last 6 opponents under 73 points. Hear post game from Head Coach Ben Jacobson and Cole Henry. Panthers sit at 4-3 in MVC play with a 7pm home matchup with Southern Illinois on tap for Saturday in the McLeod Center.

UNI defeated Belmont and Murray on Friday and Saturday, then after a quick turnaround beat in-state rival Drake Monday night to gain sole possession of first place in the Valley. UNI hits the road this weekend to visit Illinois State and Bradley.

The Panthers ended their two game road trip with a victory, 86-67 at Valparaiso. Panthers got 20 points from Tytan Anderson, 19 from Jacob Hutson and 16 from Landon Wolf to power past the Beacons. UNI shot a season high 67% from the floor, including 8 of 16 from three point range. Panthers sit in a 4 way tie for the 4th spot in the MVC at 8-7. Up next is a visit from Bradley to the McLeod Center at 1pm on Sunday.

JJ Everard transferred to UNI after qualifying for the 2015 Division I NCAA National Championships. Now at a new school, Everard was forced to deal with a lot of adversity. His dad died just before Thanksgiving, and injury foiled his shot at a second trip to the NCAA tournament. He earned the team's Most Courageous Award, given in honor of UNI alum Tim Ascherl.
