Pacific facing human rights issues despite encouraging survey results

Pacific nations are doing better than many others when it comes to political and civil rights, according to a new report that tracks the human rights performance of countries. But the report, from the Human Rights Measurement Initiative, has also highlighted some human rights failures in the region — including a lack of equality for many indigenous peoples, and the continued impacts of COVID-19 and climate change.
