She’s the first Latina to write for Marvel Comics, penning the solo series America about America Chavez, a portal-punching queer Latina powerhouse. Rivera’s critically acclaimed debut novel Juliet Takes a Breath was called “f*cking outstanding” by Roxane Gay and was re-published in September 2019 by Penguin Random House. Currently, Gabby is the writer and creator of b.b. free, a new original comic series with BOOM! Studios. When not writing, Gabby speaks on her experiences as a queer Puerto Rican from the Bronx, an LGBTQ youth advocate, and the importance of prioritizing joy in QTPOC communities at events across the country. Gabby makes magic on both coasts, currently residing in California. She writes for all the sweet baby queers, and her mom.
Recently, Gabby launched a new podcast, called Joy Revolution!
Joy Revolution is the podcast that asks how do you prioritize joy?
Joy Revolution brings Gabby Rivera and her favorite revolutionary humans together to honor joy in a chaotic world.
As a writer and speaker who focuses on queer Latinx joy, Gabby knows how vital it is to share our experiences and best practices in order to build that healing, abundant joy. And who better to be in conversation with than people whose very existences push against the chaos and uplift their communities. In this new podcast, Gabby asks how folks are rooting joy in their work, personal and spiritual lives. The goal? To share all that good bouncy healing revolutionary joy with all the humans who need it most. i.e. every single one of us

Bianca Martinez: Living with Borderline Personality Disorder
Bianca Martinez is an extremely proud two-spirit, queer, gender nonconforming Boricua warrior, mental health advocate and self proclaimed bruja by way of New York. Bianca is a co-producer of a new media platform called eres.you and the host of its video podcast eres.Tea Talks. A creative, educator, facilitator and activist, Bianca has spent much of their years working with youth and using their online presence to share resources and intimate stories about their own experiences battling mental illness. A poet by design, Bianca is a lover of all things nature and believes beauty can be found in the darkest of corners.
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a condition characterized by difficulties regulating emotion. This means that people who experience BPD feel emotions intensely and for extended periods of time, and it is harder for them to return to a stable baseline after an emotionally triggering event.
The cause of borderline personality disorder isn't well understood. Diagnosis is made based on symptoms. Treatments include talk therapy or, in some cases, medications.
It’s estimated that 1.4% of the adult U.S. population experiences BPD. Nearly 75% of people diagnosed with BPD are women. Recent research suggests that men may be equally affected by BPD, but are commonly misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder, PTSD or depression.
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) manifests in many different ways, but for the purposes of diagnosis, mental health professionals group the symptoms into nine major categories. In order to be diagnosed with BPD, you must show signs of at least five of these symptoms. Furthermore, the symptoms must be long-standing (usually beginning in adolescence) and impact many areas of your life.
Symptoms of BPD include:
- Fear of abandonment.
- Unstable relationships.
- Unclear or shifting self-image.
- Impulsive, self-destructive behaviors.
- Self-harm.
- Extreme emotional swings.
- Chronic feelings of emptiness.
- Explosive anger.
- Feeling suspicious or out of touch with reality.
