Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with University of Louisiana and Oregon alum, Athletes Unlimited mainstay and current Assistant Coach at University of Memphis, DJ Sanders.
DJ has had a very accomplished career to date. She was a 2017 NFCA 1st Team All-American, 2017 Sunbelt Conference, and also led the entire NCAA in Homeruns and RBI’s that season as well. She has been playing pro now for the last 5 years. Two years with the Bandits and Chicago and the last three with Athletes Unlimited. DJ has also moved into the coaching side of things, making stops with Missouri, Mississippi State and now, as I previously mentioned, with the University of Memphis.
We’re gonna talk to DJ about getting her start in the game, how she landed with the Ragin Cajuns in Louisiana, the transfer to Oregon, her time in the pro game and a fair bit of talk about hot sauce for some reason. You need to listen to find out why.
DJ was so awesome to chat with. We had quite a few laughs on this episode

Episode 119 - Erick Ochoa
Outside The Chute sat down and chatted with New York Gremlins member and recent bronze medalist at the WBSC Men’s World Cup with Team USA, Erick Ochoa.
Chewy has had an immediate impact on the game since he started playing. He’s another of the baseball turned fastpitch players that has excelled big time in doing so. He is a two time ISC All World selection, the 2022 ISC Batting Champion, along with a two time ISC World Champion with the NY Gremlins. Erick was also named the 2017 USA Softball Male Athlete of the Year.
We’re gonna talk to Chewy about getting his start in the game, making the transition to fastpitch, how he joined up with the NY Gremlins, of course, that bronze medal won earlier this month at the WBSC World Cup down in Auckland, NZ and much, much more.
Chewy was awesome to chat with. For a guy who’s second language is English I’m so happy that he was willing to come on and talk about his journey in the game with us.
