ABOUT Dr. Christopher C. Odom, MFA, PhD 🎬
Dr. Christopher C. Odom earned his PhD in Texts and Technology, Digital Media at the University of Central Florida; his MFA in Film and Television from the University of California, Los Angeles; and his BA in Film and Video Production from Georgia State University. Throughout Dr. Odom’s 30-year career in the entertainment industry, as a filmmaker, Dr. Odom has produced, directed, written, shot, and/or edited +500 short and longform creative projects. In addition, for over a decade as a Course Director at Full Sail University, Dr. Odom has supervised and developed an additional +500 student short scripts and films.
Dr. Odom currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Our Vision Caribbean and Latino Film Festival; Vice President of Communications, Publicity, and Brand Strategy for EJO Ventures, and a Course Director for the Digital Cinematography Bachelor of Science Program (DCBS) at Full Sail University. Dr. Odom recently finished his short documentary film “Justice for George Floyd: The Tipping Point?” about the visual imagery emerging on social media from the Justice for George Floyd Protests, as a social movement. ABOUT “Justice for George Floyd: The Tipping Point?” 🎬
JUSTICE FOR GEORGE FLOYD: THE TIPPING POINT? is a documentary short film that explores the power of visual imagery and narrative, both online and in the real world, within social movements. The documentary was produced in partial fulfillment of my hybrid dissertation for a PhD in Texts and Technology, Digital Media from the University of Central Florida. The hybrid dissertation was an expanded version of the same topic which was comprised of a 62,000-word traditional written document, 3 code-based interactive generative scholarship artistic works, and a documentary short film.

🎙️ (Part 2 of 2) Juan Gabriel “Rambo” Reynoso was born in Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico and moved to Compton, CA at the age of 2, where he was raised and graduated high school, just south of Los Angeles. Today, Juan is an accomplished actor, filmmaker, educator, and biker who teaches film production at Compton High School. Juan began teaching acting for film at Compton high school with 2 of his own professional JVC Pro HD video cameras.
ABOUT Juan Gabriel “Rambo” Reynoso 🎬
Juan’s storied life has taken him from football to the fire department film crew. In his early years, if not for an accident that tore Juan’s meniscus, he was 2 days away from signing with the Los Angeles Raiders NFL football team as a punter and kicker and 2 weeks away from working as a stuntman in the Hollywood feature film “Bulletproof,” which starred Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler and was directed by Ernest R. Dickerson.
In Juan’s colorful career, from his early years through today, he’s had the opportunity to cross paths with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. At a young age, Juan studied alongside Anthony Anderson (“Grown-ish,” “Law & Order,” “Black-ish”) at The Los Angeles County Academy of Performing and Visual Arts (A UCLA Extension Program).
One of his first appearances in a Hollywood feature film was in “Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult,” directed by Peter Segal, whose cast included Leslie Neilsen and O.J. Simpson.
After being given a big break to audition by Hollywood casting director Dianne Crittenden (“Spider-Man 2,” “The Thin Red Line,” “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope”), Juan’s first speaking part in a major Hollywood feature film was as the henchman, Haseem, in Paul Michael Glaser’s (“Starsky and Hutch,” “Ray Donovan,” “Criminal Minds”) “Kazaam,” starring Shaquille “Shaq” O”Neal.
Recently, Juan played a stepfather in the Sundance Film Festival feature film and NEXT Innovator Award Nominee “La leyenda negra,” written and directed by international award-winning filmmaker Patricia Vidal Delgado.

📽️ Portuguese international multi-award-winning filmmaker and director Patricia Vidal Delgado discusses how she got her University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Productionfeature thesis film, “La leyenda negra,” into the Sundance Film Festival, how she strategized once she was in the festival, and how she got her film distributed through HBO Max after her movie screened at Sundance.
ABOUT Patricia Vidal Delgado 🎬
Patricia Vidal Delgado was born in the culturally robust metropolis of Lisbon, Portugal. In addition to her graduate studies at UCLA, in the United Kingdom, Delgado previously studied Fine Art Media at the Central St. Martins University of the Arts and the Slade School of Fine, University in London. Through video, sound, and performance, her artistic practice explores the intimate and the feminine has been featured internationally in art galleries and festivals in London, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Marrakesh, Luanda, Zürich, Stuttgart, and Budapest.
Patricia’s first feature film, “La Leyenda negra,” which premiered in 2020 Sundance Film festival, was also a Top 20 Finalist for the Roy W. Dean Grant and was awarded the Frameline Completion Fund in February of 2020, after which HBO Max acquired the streaming rights for the film. In addition, “La Leyenda negra” was nominated for the Film Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award. The GLAAD Media Awards also nominated the film for Outstanding TV Movie.
“La Leyenda negra,” written and directed by Delgado, tells the story of a soon-to-be undocumented teenager who fights for her right to stay in America while risking her family, friendships, and first love.
As a filmmaker, Delgado has accumulated 23 wins and 75 nominations for her work. Patricia was awarded a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship. In addition, she is also a Sundance Institute Film Two Fellow, a cohort member of the MTV First Time Directors Initiative, and currently represented by Randy Kiyan of Luber Roklin Entertainment.

She broke into the business by working every support staff job going—WPA, WA, SC—writing her first comedies House of Payne and Meet The Browns, both on TBS, and Let’s Stay Together on BET. Moving into writing drama, she’s a script coordinator on notable shows including The Handmaid’s Tale, Winning Time, The Acolyte and BMF.
Her drama pilot, “The Fifth Quarter,” earned a coveted First-Look Deal in the FOX Writers Incubator. That script also made the 2nd Round of the Sundance Episodic Lab. Another pilot “Hip Hop High” along with “The Fifth Quarter,” led to her selection as a Disney Writing Program Semi-finalist. She also has a feature film set up at Kronicle Media.
Michelle’s also an educator with an MA in Language, Literacy and Culture from Berkeley’s School of Ed. She’s an alumna of UNC (Communications) and The Cosby Screenwriting Fellowship through USC. And Script Anatomy! She’s taken Televisionary, Structure Lab and Genre Lab and was a Fellowship Bio & Essay Workshop student in ‘21 (her First-Look in the FOX Incubator came shortly afterwards in 2022).

Born in Jamaica Marie Kellier came to America as a young woman to pursue her education. As a writer, she ultimately landed at UC LA in the writer’s program. She talks about her struggles as a black woman at UCLA and all the different hurdles she had to overcome.
LA Carnival
Marie Kellier founded LA Carnival in 1998 to bring a little piece of the Caribbean to Los Angeles but yet still maintaining a very distinctive LA feel to it. We talked about the 2024 carnival that's coming up in June in Leimert Park Village Los Angeles. We also talked about the beginning days of the carnival, the ups and downs of making the carnival happen, the hard work, and all the roadblocks she had to face in order to make this carnival happen.
