Lesson Summary:

This week’s study spans several decades, and we find out what happened to Zeniff’s group after they left Zarahemla for the land of Nephi. We’ll study the incredible motives of Ammon, a descendant of Zarahemla, as well as the humility of Limhi, who gratefully accepts his help. We’ll also go back in time to read Zeniff’s record. His words will teach us about the slippery slope to bondage and the risks of being over-zealous. However, the overarching message of the Savior’s deliverance runs through each chapter.

Questions to Consider:

MOSIAH 7:15 | These seem to be counterpoints to Benjamin’s description of his rule. Are there other contrasts that Zeniff might appreciate?

MOSIAH 7:25 | Why is fallen a good word choice here? It’s almost like the “natural man” is susceptible to the cosmic gravity of the world without God

MOSIAH 7:18-19 | How can you genuinely rejoice in the hope of deliverance? What does this combination of assured deliverance and effectual struggle teach us about Heavenly Father’s plan? What does verse 33 of chapter 7 add to this idea?

WEEK 47: SUMMARY

Lesson Summary:

In Ether 6-11, we follow the journey of the Jaredites as they cross the ocean in barges, guided by the light of shining stones. Upon reaching the promised land, they establish a society under the leadership of various kings. However, the narrative quickly shifts to a cycle of prosperity, wickedness, and upheaval as they struggle with power, pride, and internal conflicts. The text highlights moral lessons on the consequences of rejecting the Lord's guidance and the recurring theme of repentance and redemption. Despite times of righteousness, the Jaredites often fall back into chaos, foreshadowing future trials for their civilization.

Ether 6:12 | What are tender mercies to you? When have you seen them? How did you recognize them? Did your mortal mind try to reconcile them? How did you get past those feelings and find divinity in them?

Ether 8:7-10 | How does Satan use good motives to do tempt us to do sinful things? How do we guard against this? How do the two great commandments help you know how to channel your emotions for good?

Ether 11:12-13 | Do you think this happens today? We know the work will roll forward but are there times when prophets withdraw? What causes a prophet’s heart to mourn? Can you mourn and maintain a sense of rest and optimism simultaneously?

Lesson Summary:

Doctrine and Covenants Section 1, known as the "Lord's Preface," sets the stage for the revelations that follow it. It addresses the entire world and emphasizes the importance of listening to the Lord's voice, which reaches all people. It warns that those who do not heed it will face consequences. Lesson Summary:

The book of Helaman is a build-up to the coming of Jesus Christ in the Book of Mormon. Our master editor, Mormon, sets the stage by helping us understand the depths of the darkness brought on by the Coriantumr, Kishkumen, and the Gadianton Robbers. That dark backdrop will make the bright bursts of light we find in the stories of Moronihah, Helaman, Nephi, Lehi, Aminadab and others. The contrast will catch your heart and help you feel more equipped to conquer the darkness of our day.

Questions to Consider:

Helaman 3:30 | What do you think it means to sit with the holy fathers and “go no more out”?

Helaman 5:8 | What do you think a heavenly treasure is? Is it relationships, a rate of progression, a certainty of some kind? What else could we possibly “lay-up” for ourselves?

Helaman 6:36-38 | The Lamanites converted or removed the Gadianton Robbers from the lands but the Nephites “build them up and support them” until most “come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils.” Do you see similar trends in our day? What does ripening for destruction look like in our day? Could teaching truth reverse that trend?
