OSMcast: Street Fighter IV 02-23-2009
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
02/23/09 • 69 min
Street Fighter IV
Hey kids! It’s the OSMcast_! _And tonight/today/whenever you are listening to this, we’re talking about Capcom’s latest fighting game, STREET FIGHTER IV!
And other stuff, too. Like God Hand, Lost Odyssey, Shiren the Wanderer, Senko no Ronde... and Superman 64. (Sorry about that.)
OSMnotes
Street Fighter IV is out on Xbox 360 and PS3, and in fact is _so _brand new it hasn’t even been out a week when this podcast gets posted. Therefore you should go out into the world, walk into a store, and go buy it. Because that may just be the last time you see the sun for some time.
However finding a decent stick or one of those fancy fightpads... Not so easy.
Thumbnails tell you nothing, so I made a larger version clickable.
So I suggest that spend your money on Senko no Ronde instead (Please ignore the stupid cover art. Yeah, Ubisoft didn’t have a clue what to do with this thing.). That is, if the idea of Street Fighter in the context of a shoot ‘em up appeals to you. On the other hand, the good man Inubito would suggest that perhaps Slide America – A Nationwide Documentary on Drifting in North America might be something you hip drifting cats would be interested in. It will certainly be a more accurate portrayal of the sport than other movies releasing this year.
If you ain't outta control, you ain't IN control!
And in a stunning change of events, we got an email! Shock! Awe! Baseless pandering finally paid off! Yes, YOU TOO (!!!) can be mocked by us for the Internet to preserve for all of eternity! All it takes is sending us an email! There are other ways you can contact us, but I’ll leave to you to read on down to the contest copy-pasta or to the lovely information in the side bar. But yes, it is now proven by one of our intrepid listeners : if you send us an email, we _will _answer it.
The rules for this contest are very simple! You just have to talk to us! No matter what, we’ll need an email. You can send us one at [email protected]. Also, you could leave us a comment in the comments section below this post. Or call us up on the OSMline at (206) 202-0071. However you do it though, we’ll need an email to contact you. The PRIZE AS WE HAVE NOW ANNOUNCED, is an OSMcast T-shirt! Possibly a one of a kind! Or at least a very few of a kind...

OSMcast! Show #184: Centaurworld (Season One)
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
03/08/22 • 105 min
14 years ago, a podcast started. Perhaps you have heard of it? It's called the OSMcast, your podcast for everything awesome. 14 years later, against all odds, they posted a new episode coincidently on the same day. And that episode? This one. The one you are listening to right now! And this time we are talking about Centaurworld, a cool cartoon for cool people that like cool things created by Megan Nicole Dong, with songs by Dong and Dominic Bisignano. It's a Netflix show so chances are you can go watch it immediately after listening to this episode.
OSMnotes
14 years. Wow. Also, yikes. But wow. Here's to 14 more? I guess we should point out that this episode was recorded in the distant past, aka in 2021. A month or two before the second chunk of episodes came out for Centaurworld. Therefore, one could imagine that another episode covering the second half will happen. One could. Alas, we also never finished the Legend of Korra, Hellsing Ultimate, and shoot even Steven Universe had a movie and sequel short series after we thought we had wrapped that up. Then again, we did power through all that Evangelion! So hey! It could happen. But now, Time Cues:

OSMinterview! Vedetta Marie & ScatterDOTFashion @ MTAC In Love
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
05/20/14 • 40 min
Vedetta Marie
ScatterDOTFashion
Sometimes, you gotta spin the wheel, play the cards, hit the Greed button in an MMO and hope you come out of the dungeon with a pretty cool new thing. At this past MTAC (that MTAC In Love con you’ve been hearing so much from us about?), we took a chance. We had an interview that we seriously had no clue what was going to happen.
Thankfully, we came out of it with a pretty cool new thing! And that thing is this interview. We got the chance to sit down and chat with Vedetta Marie and ScatterDOTFashion, a cosplay and Japanese fashion due par excellance.
Now, you may think that the OSMcast is nothing but glamor, pizazz, and fashionability, but really all we know about fashion comes from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures and Paradise Kiss. Which isn’t nearly enough keep up with these fashionista kids.
However, they are totally cool people and it ended up being a really fun talk. Would chat with again! Five stars (Out of OSM, obviously)!
OSMnotes
We want to give a gigantic thanks to both Vedetta Marie, ScatterDOTFashion, and MTAC for the chance for the interview. And since it was more press conference style, we were’t the only ones there asking the questions! You also heard questions from Charlie from the Chainsaw Buffet, as well as Andrew from A Man and His Pod, among others. So big shout outs to them as well. Yes, we gave them shout outs before, and will likely do so again. In, you know, about a week or two.
Next week, what could it be?! Well we haven’t recorded yet, buuuuuuut it’s probably Godzilla.

OSMcast! Show #191: The OSMawards! 2023 Edipyon – Video Games
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
01/17/24 • 83 min
It’s a brand-new year, and we’re kicking of 2024 with a look back on 2023. In video games. If you want other media mediums, sorry but you’ll have to settle this time. Because aside from a tabletop game in Dylan’s list, that’s all we got this time. I’m sure anime and other things will be talked about in future episodes. Just not this one. But this one? This one’s for the GamersTM.
Protip: Also, this episode is barely edited. And I do mean barely!
OSMnotes
Hope you enjoyed this episode! If you were expecting Time Cues, sorry! Like mentioned previously, this episode was only barely edited so we could get it out in a remotely timely manner. Huh, what’s that? Something about how we are supposed to have an Anime Secret Santa episode or two out before Christmas? So why are we worried about being timely? Weird. Must be hearing things. Anyway, here are everyone’s personal top games as you follow along:

OSMinterview! Melissa Sternenberg on 8/21/2023
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
09/05/23 • 28 min
So previously we Aimed for the Top with interviewing the voice of Noriko, but this time we are interviewing the voice of Kazumi Amano in Gunbuster: Melissa Sternenberg! Where she outs herself as a huge nerd. Which is good, because this is kind of the podcast for that sort of thing. We chat about LARPing, Freakazoid, Animaniacs, 90s anime, all sorts of things. Like, what makes a great dub? Also, a great dub: Gunbuster. And as one would expect, the critically acclaimed MMPRPG Final Fantasy XIV.
OSMnotes
We want to thank Melissa once again for taking the time to chat with us! And you can find all the places where Melissa is by checking out her online at:

OSMcast! Show #193: Gunbuster
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
11/12/24 • 95 min
From 1988 to 1989, the anime studio Gainax gave us a six episode OAV(OVA?) series known as Gunbuster. It had it all: Giant robots, space aliens, ladies from an all-girls school training in giant robots to fight the space aliens, the whole nine yards! Then in 2023, Discotek Media gave an outstanding Blu-ray release of that show complete with a brand new English dub handled by Sound Cadence Studios. And then in 2024, the OSMcast! gave the world a podcast about Discotek Media’s Blu-ray release of the anime Gunbuster by Gainax. But also joining us to talk about Gunbuster is Melissa Sternenberg, the voice of Kazumi Amano from the Sound Cadence Studios English dub production for the Discotek Media Blu-ray release of the anime Gunbuster by Gainax. We also talk about Glass Mask way more than expected, but not unappreciated.
OSMnotes
Gunbuster! You should go watch it. There’s a really good Blu-ray you can buy! Or stream it on Crunchyroll (as of this posting)! And big thanks to Melissa and Tobias for joining us on the show! But before we forget, Time Cues:

OSMcast? Show #190: Somehow, Itsudatte My Santa! Returned
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
12/22/23 • 44 min
Finally, John got me. Me as in Basil (the one that writes all of these). He has finally made another true OSMcast? by returning to the Ken Akamatsu well. If you recall, we have actually done an OSMcast? on Itsudatte My Santa! before. And while I refuse to double check anything that reminds of having to watch it ever again, I do remember this: That when I said I had only watched episode one John said that was fine, episode two was worse and that we only were covering the first episode anyway. And thus, he played his trap card. Three years later, he has sprung it upon on us all. So here, have that podcast.
OSMnotes
So yeah, once again, that was sure an episode! Have some Time Cues:
- We start the OSMcast!ing – 00:00
- General Gabbing – 00:36
- Moments of OSM – 02:43
- Miasma Chronicles – 03:04

- G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero – 07:08
- Istudatte My Santa! Only It’s Episode 2 This Time
- Itsudatte My Santa! Episode 2, Full of Spoilers (It’s fine you should never watch this show anyway even if you could!) – 09:36
- OSMs out of OSM – 41:41

The Carbuncle Chronicle Issue 23: Ten Years of Playing Final Fantasy XIV, Part 1
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
05/13/24 • 94 min
Hello Adventurers! While last year was the 10 Year Anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, this year is our 10 Year Anniversary of playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn! So, we thought it would be nice to look back at those halcyon days of times long ago. Specifically, ten years ago. And to join us down this trip on memory lane, we are joined by the fellows Chille and Paul of Moogle Go Round Radio! MGR is a FFXIV podcast and stream where they, if you can believe it, talk about Final Fantasy XIV. They also just recently celebrated their own 8th Anniversary of existence! You can trust us when we say they were the perfect pair to chat with us about how TP used to be real and could hurt you.
Spoiler Levels: La Noscean Toast! This is not an especially spoiler-filled episode, unless you have never played Final Fantasy XIV at all ever. In which case, have you heard about the free trial? And then come back to us after you finish up with ARR. Otherwise: Enjoy this delicious episode that has been soaked mixture of buffalo milk and eggs, and then fried in creamy butter. A specialty at the Drowning Wench in Limsa Lominsa!
OSMnotes
Once again big thanks to Paul and Chille for chatting with us! And as you may have noticed, this is a Part 1! Because we had planned to talk about the expansions leading up to Dawntrail, but we only got as far as A Realm Reborn. Guess we’ll have to schedule a Part 2 at some point! But until then, how about some Time Cues:
- 00:00:00 – We Start the Carbuncle Chronicling
- 00:14:41 – Our Humble Beginnings
- 00:51:09 – A Realm Reborn
- 01:16:43 – FFXIV 2.0: Then and Now. What’s changed in 10 years?
- 01:30:21 – Outro

OSMcast! The Legend of Korra: Book One, Air 9-16-2013
OSMcast! & The Carbuncle Chronicle
09/15/13 • 118 min
Mmmm, cartoons! They are the best.
So, you may have heard about this Korra cartoon THING that just had it’s second season opener and you may wonder if you should go back and catch the first season. But hey, if you ARE wondering that, well we have the answer for you!
Short answer: Yes, of course you should. We even did an OSMcast all about it.
Long answer: You listen to our latest episode that tells you all about it. That’s right here. You can just click about or download it or maybe you have done one of those things. In that case you should have already begun watching the first season. If you haven’t, I guess just listen to the podcast again.
TL;DR: This episode of the OSMcast is about The Legend of Korra: Book One, Air. It’s a pretty cool cartoon made by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino and a sequel to Avatar: the Last Aibender. You can go listen to us yap on about how cool we think it is.
OSMnotes
Firstly, here’s a link to the Blu-ray of the first season. Here’s a link to the DVD version.
Secondly, ACTUAL SHOW NOTES?!

Yeah buddy! Those sure are some TIME CUES. Now how about some PANEL CUES?!
Panel Cues for Anime Weekend Atlanta, as told to Basil by way of AWA unless things change which they totally can!
- Manga You Need to Buy Right Now! (9/27/13 3:30 PM-4:30 PM | CGC – 104): Manga, the world of Japanese comics. There used to be an absolute ton of these things on the market, but times are changing... and not for the better. However, there are still a great many series and one shots that are being published today. And we’re going to tell you all about them!
- Petals and Penguins: The Work of Kunihiko Ikuhara (9/28/13 5:00 PM-6:00 PM | CGC – 106): The creator and director of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Kunihiko Ikuhara is a man who loves imagery. And metaphor. And messing with your mind. His works make you think, make you feel, and usually not in the ways you’re probably meant to when you started your day. But yet, we always keep coming back for more. From his start in the anime adaption of Sailor Moon, to Penguindrum and beyond, we look into the twisted body of work that has defined Kunihiko Ikuhara.
- Getting Your Anime Groove Back (9/29/13 11:00 AM-12:00 PM | CGC – 104): Anime burn out happens all the time. Sometimes life gets in the way and people lose interest in keeping up with the latest shows and news. This panel looks at a few shows that may rekindle that anime fan deep inside that just wants to be free again.
- The Weird Side of Go Nagai (9/29/13 2:30 PM-3:30 PM | CGC – 106): While Go Nagai is easily one of the most prolific and influential anime and manga creators of our time, not everyone knows his stranger side. Sure, some anime fans may know the popular stuff like Cutie Honey or Mazinger Z, but what about Aztechkaiser; a tokusatsu pro-wrestling live action show where the hero beats his enemies by turning into animation? Now that’s weird!
Boy that sure was a whole lot of cues!

Hello Adventurers! Everyone it’s been 10 long years, but we have finally done it. We’re going to The New World, Tural! And while a few of us did just get back from the 2023 NA FanFest in Las Vegas a couple of weeks back, even now only the thoughts of new level caps, two dyes, and taco cats arw what keep us going. And, or some of us, the thoughts of wearing glasses and a summoner’s horn at the same time. All of that is to say, we are very excited about the new Final Fanatsy XIV 7.0 Expansion: Dawntrail! So here is us talking all about it.
