Change Smuggling! What OD can learn from Domain Driven Design with Xin Yao - OrgDev Episode 59
OrgDev with Distinction
03/14/25 • 50 min
We'd love to hear from you so send us a message!
Why do organisations keep struggling with structure and workflow—despite endless change efforts? We redesign teams, introduce new processes, and roll out new tech, yet work still feels slow, frustrating, and full of roadblocks. Silos, unclear roles, and misaligned systems drain energy and waste time.
In this episode, we’re joined by Xin Yao, a Domain-Driven Design (DDD) practitioner, sociotechnical architect, and former enterprise architect. She helps organisations bridge the gap between people, teams, and technology—designing systems that actually work. If you’ve ever wondered why change efforts fall flat and what to do instead, this conversation is for you.

4 Steps to Effective Decision making
OrgDev with Distinction
03/03/21 • 57 min
We'd love to hear from you so send us a message!
Today, making decisions has been elevated to an art and a science. There are thousands of academic journals and books on decision making and hundreds of frameworks to choose from. Many people have made their whole careers out of studying the topic and teaching others how to make better decisions. That’s a lot of resources but most organisations don’t have the time or manpower to make use of them all. While having all those resources is great for every day, it can make it challenging to decide where to start when you need to improve your decision making process. We took on the challenge of distilling everything down into something that would work for almost every organisation — and we've shared it with you in this Podcast. It's highly practical and you apply it in your work immediately. We'll also be busting some of the myths surrounding decision making
This is one of 4 sessions we're running in this series (Youtube links below):

Fairness at Work -Culture's Essential Ingredient with Dr. Wilson Wong OrgDev episode 51
OrgDev with Distinction
01/23/25 • 64 min
We'd love to hear from you so send us a message!
What makes a workplace truly fair?
How does our own sense of fairness shape our reactions to decisions, interactions, and how we treat others at work?
Fairness isn’t just a feel-good concept—it’s a critical factor in building trust, maintaining engagement, and driving performance. But getting fairness wrong can be costly. When employees perceive unfairness—whether in how decisions are made, how people are treated, or how rewards are distributed—it erodes trust, undermines morale, and fuels disengagement.
So, how can managers, HR and organizations apply fairness in their work to create a culture where everyone thrives?
