Today's Episode
Welcome to the Open Seat podcast! On today's episode, we welcome special guest and friend, Chase Karraker. Chase works in the Residence Life office at Colorado Christian University and is passionate about psychology and music. Together we discuss the beginning of chapter 4 of 1 John, discussing the spiritual world and how we know the spirit of truth. We also contrast the voice of God with the voice of the world and find encouragement knowing that "he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."
Our Mission
We recognize that the Bible was written in languages full of richness and beauty. Our goal is to explore the beauty of the New Testament, written in Koine Greek, that can sometimes become obscured in English translations. We desire to bridge the gap of scholarship and make these conversations about Biblical Greek accessible to all curious people. Whether you have studied Greek for years or you are embarking on this journey today, all are welcome to take a seat at the Table.

Episode 17: Why the Church Should Take Sin Seriously with Dr. David E. Bosworth

Today's Episode
Welcome to the Open Seat podcast! On today's episode, we welcome special guest and one of our former professors, Dr. David E. Bosworth! Dr. Bosworth is one of the New Testament professors at Colorado Christian University, specializing in Koine Greek, Pauline Literature, and Intercultural Ministry. After conversing about the joys of studying Greek, we conduct a grammar case study in 1 Corinthians chapter 5, examining the phrase "in the name of the Lord Jesus." We discuss the proper grammatical understanding of the phrase and its implication: the Church, as the representative of Christ to the world, must take sin seriously. Keep an eye out for his upcoming book, “Urgency and Severity: Pauline Rationale for Explusion in 1 Corinthians 5:1-13,” coming out May 30, 2024!
