Open Seat

Today's Episode
Welcome to the Open Seat podcast! On today's episode, we welcome special guest, professor, and friend, Dr. David Kotter! Dr. Kotter is the current Dean of the School of Theology at Colorado Christian University and one of our former Greek professors. As we sit with Kotter, he shares about his life, love for the Lord, passion for teaching, and the importance of studying the Greek language. We deeply appreciate Kotter's insight and perspectives, and we hope you all are encouraged by him to pursue a deeper study of the Word so that you may know Christ better.
Our Mission
We recognize that the Bible was written in languages full of richness and beauty. Our goal is to explore the beauty of the New Testament, written in Koine Greek, that can sometimes become obscured in English translations. We desire to bridge the gap of scholarship and make these conversations about Biblical Greek accessible to all curious people. Whether you have studied Greek for years or you are embarking on this journey today, all are welcome to take a seat at the Table.

Episode 14: On Sin and Righteousness - 1 John 3:1-10

Today's Episode
Welcome to the Open Seat podcast! On today's episode, we continue our study of 1 John, spending the majority of our conversation talking about sin. We wrestle with the question, is John talking about habitual sin in this chapter? What is John trying to communicate to his audience, and what should our takeaway be? We end our conversation by turning back to the Gospel, finding encouragement in the finished work of Christ.

Episode 16: Love One Another - 1 John 3:11-24 with Emily Watling

Today's Episode
Welcome to the Open Seat podcast! On today's episode, we welcome special guest and friend Emily Watling! Emily is a former classmate from CCU, Kaitlin's roommate, and currently works in admissions at CCU and as a barista at a coffee shop. Together, we discuss one of the major themes of John that occurs in chapter three, the theme of loving your brother/sister. We know that someone has truly experienced the love of God if they are known for the way they love their brother, loving them in both word and action, as Christ did.
