One Vision is a convergence of minds that dream of a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable world for future generations galvanized by innovation. The latest season, FinTech Fuse, brought to you by the powerhouse trio, Theodora Lau, Barb MacLean, and Stephanie Foster, continues the tradition of telling stories that matter.

We speak to startup founders, investors, industry players, thought leaders and policy makers in the innovation ecosystem and get their views. While there have been a lot discussed about innovation in the western world, we believe that impact at scale can be achieved in the emerging markets too. In recent times we have seen several leap frog moments across the emerging world. What Alibaba and Tencent have achieved in China, PayTM in India and MPesa in Africa are great examples of impactful stories. We talk to many emerging market players and highlight their efforts to create such leap frog moments.

We believe there are many innovation stories that have impact on people's life across the world. We identify these stories and talk to them about their journeys, successes and challenges they have had to overcome. In providing a stage for these entrepreneurs, thought leaders and innovators, we hope to inspire a generation looking to effect positive change. One Vision, One Dream, One Voice for One sustainable future.

One Vision fintech fuse - Shades of Grey: The Journey towards Social Innovation
play

08/13/19 • 32 min

Social isolation affects people both emotionally and physically, and older adults who struggle financially are at an even greater risk of isolation. In the next ten years over 11 million adults will stop driving due to age related impairments. Over 8 million have no smartphone and no experience with new technology. Many of them will be forced to rely on a patchwork of friends, family, community members and caregivers to get around.

In this episode of Shades of Grey, Theodora Lau talk to Justin Boogaard, the co-founder of GogoGrandparent. Gogo helps families take care of their loved ones from afar. Our first producthelps older adults use on demand services from a phone call: "Press 1 for an Uber to your home." Justin describes the birth of Gogo.

"Over Christmas my grandmother told me she was afraid of driving at night, and asked for a way to call Uber from her flip phone. GoGoGrandparent was born and she took her first trip to CoCo's Diner. She ordered a stack of buttermilk pancakes and extra crispy bacon."

GoGoGrandparent is one of the very few startups that sees the opportunity to do well while doing good. They aim to solve the transportation needs of older adults by connecting seniors to ride sharing services such as Lyft, and providing personalized services that give the caregivers a peace of mind. In the long run, they also aim to expand into meals, groceries, and medicine delivery, on a virtual caregiving platform, that enables older adults to live independently longer.

Listen in to Justin and Theo discussing how we can address our social responsibility to take care of our aging families.

One Vision fintech fuse - Fighting the good fight: Getting to a just economy
play

02/19/24 • 40 min

“If you get the chance to wake up tomorrow, what will you do with your day?” In this episode of One Vision — FinTech Fuse! Theo chats with Natasha Harper-Madison, a city council member for Austin, an entrepreneur, and a champion for the local community and racial equity, on civic engagement and cultivating economic opportunity and mobility. It is often said, talent is everywhere, opportunities are not. If small businesses are the backbone of our society, what more can we do to enable them to thrive? How can we collectively partner across sectors to create a more vibrant startup economy? More can be done — more needs to be done. And there is a cost of inaction. As Gandalf said to Frodo in Lord of the Rings: “All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” We hope Natasha’s story will inspire you to reflect and act. Because each day is a gift. Let’s fight the good fight.

She also shares her adventures with South Indian food and coffee. Don't miss it!!

Could you imagine life without music? Plato said that ‘music gives a soul to the universe’. And there does seem to be a soundtrack to each change of cadence in our lives, as ‘music is the wine that fills the cup of silence’ according to Robert Fripp. There is also a melody to the way money flows through our daily lives as well. So how well do we take care of the artists that conjure up this magic, across so many genres and generations? This week Theodora and Bradley listen in to the timbre and tempo of John Waupsh, Co-Founder of Nerve, a new type of bank dedicated to the music makers creating the harmony and rhythm of our lives.
