One Loud Voice is a discipleship community that empowers believers to share the love of Jesus with the world. The One Loud Voice podcast is the heartbeat of our discipleship program. It's designed to inspire and equip people to live like Jesus, to be His disciples. In addition to our Bible study content, we create opportunities for people to be the hands and feet of Jesus, partnering with local churches and mission organizations to help them reach the world. We believe it is time to take the challenge of Jesus and “Go into all the world and make disciples.” Together, we can be - One Loud Voice.

One Loud Voice - Episode 48 - Stay Humble

Humility in our society is often viewed as a negative characteristic. We all like being around someone who is truly humble, but it isn’t a New Year’s resolution item that most of us make.
Q1: What are some reasons you can think of that make people resist the idea of being humble?
Q2: What does false humility look like?
Q3: What does Biblical humility look like?
Matthew 23:1-12 NLT
Vs 3: “So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach.”
We all like to be back seat drivers & stadium coaches - but we’re not in the game. We’re not sweating, getting hit, under pressure, trying but still making mistakes - but we think we could do it better. According to Jesus, that’s pride.
If you spend your time and energy, and focus your attention on “doing” what God has called you to do, it’s going to be hard to get prideful. You won’t have time or energy to worry about what others are/are not doing
If what you are “telling” others they need/should do is good advice for them, then it’s GOOD advice for you!
Thought: Why is it so much easier to point out how others should live, instead of living it ourselves?
Q4: What actions can you/we make that could inspire others to pursue God or live a better life?
Vs 4: “They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.”
The children’s rhyme: “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” is a lie! Words are very powerful. Proverbs 18:21 NLT says: The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
Our words carry weight. The things we say can hurt or help people. They can give someone the strength to pursue their dreams, or crush them and make them feel like they have nothing to offer.
Thought: Have you ever been motivated to change by someone pointing out all your faults and making you feel like a loser? Why do we feel the need to do that?
Q5: How can we redirect our words to inspire and encourage people instead of breaking them down?
Final thought: The example we set for others through our actions, the motives of our heart, and the words we choose to speak, are the revealing truth of our humility or pride.

Show Notes
Matthew 7:1-2 AMP
Q1: In what ways do making assumptions about people, limit, or impact our opinion of them?
Examples of how Jesus accepted and loved people:
Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Zacchaeus, Women at the well, Demoniac, Women caught in adultery
Q2: How do the ways that Jesus dealt with people, that most of us would quickly judge, challenge you to live differently?
Colossians 3:12-15 NLT
Paul tells us to "clothe ourselves" with mercy, kindness, humility, love, etc... Many things listed are fruits of the Spirit.
Q3: What is one fruit of the Spirit that you find hard to demonstrate?
Make a conscious effort to improve. Choose everyday to “clothe yourself” with that characteristic.
3 ways to curb judgement:
Refrain from prejudice
Keep an open heart and mind towards people
Listen for God’s voice, for the Holy Spirit to speak to you
Challenge:
Pick someone you find easy to judge. On purpose be more considerate of them. Try to have a conversation with them and find out what their story is. Be ready for God to use you!

One Loud Voice - Episode 46 - Have Faith in God
play

Mark 11:22-24 NIV
Reading this scripture it would be easy to think that Jesus is offering us a ticket to Easy Street. We can send all of our problems into the sea; everything we want, we just ask and we get it.
Q1: Does that idea line up with everything else that Jesus tells His disciples? What are some things he tells his disciples that don’t agree with the Easy Street concept?
Having faith is not about getting what you want, it’s about following God and trusting Him to provide, to lead, to open doors, to fulfill His plan and purpose for your life.
That doesn’t mean we can’t pray and ask God for things we need and want. Jesus tells us to pray for these things.
Q2: What does it mean to “have faith”? What are some other things in life that we put faith in?
Faith requires us to believe in someone outside of our 5 senses.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Hebrews 11:3 NIV
The people listed in Hebrews 11 did just that, they believed in things they couldn’t see.
Hebrews 11:6 NIV
Q3: Why is faith is essential to our relationship with God? Think about other relationships in your life, do they require faith as well?
Jesus demonstrated faith, and pointed faith out, much more than He taught about it.
Mark 11 - The fig tree
Mark 5 - Centurion/Woman w issue
Q4: Does having faith mean that we don’t deal with fear?
Nehemiah 2:2-3 NIV
Nehemiah had to believe God:

  • For the courage to approach the King
  • For the confidence that he could rally the people to do the work
  • For protection against the people coming against them
  • For wisdom to see through the deception of his enemies
  • For strength to complete the vision

Q5: What things in your life do you need faith in God to overcome?
Challenge:
Pick 1 thing you struggle trusting God with and each day give it to God and ask him to give you strength to believe Him for the outcome.

One Loud Voice - Episode 47 - Don't Worry
play

01/30/24 • 36 min

Send us a text

Welcome to the One Loud Voice podcast. We are in a series on the 12 main teachings of Jesus. This week we are talking about Jesus' command of "Don't Worry". Join us as we talk about this important topic, discussing how to better navigate the temptation to worry.
Show Notes:
Matthew 6:25-34
Worrying about our future or things going on in our lives is the result of not trusting God. In vs. 30 Jesus asks the question: "Why do you have so little faith?"
How do we change that? How do we grow our faith to the point that it overpowers our temptations to worry?
1. Pray - Philippians 4:6-7
2. Praise - Isaiah 61:3
3. Trust - Proverbs 3:5
Read the book of Ruth. What are some things we can learn from this story about trusting God and overcoming worry?
Questions to ask yourself or discuss in your group:
1. What are some issues that we worry about?
2. What are some circumstances that cause you to worry?
3. Looking back at these issues and circumstances, what are some key reasons that worry overrides our faith?
From the three things listed above (pray, praise, trust) ask yourself or discuss in your group:
1. Do you identify worry in your life? What are some negative impacts that worry has on you?
2. What are you listening to? What are you saying about your situation?
3. What are some things you can do to help you trust God more?
Isaiah 55:10-11
There is power in the Word of God to help us overcome our greatest worries!
1. Pray scripture
2. Praise speaking out the Word
3. Trust by standing on His promises
Here are a list of verses to help you in your Pray, Praise and Trust:

Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Peter 5:6-7, John 14:27, 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 55:22, Philippians 4:6, Hebrews 13:6, Joshua 1:9, Matthew 6:34, Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 61:3, Isaiah 40:31, Isaiah 41:10, Joshua 1:9, Psalms 34:4

Challenge:
Look for opportunities this week to hit worry head on. When you find yourself becoming overwhelmed. Stop immediately and pray speaking truth from God’s word over your life. Then commit to listening to praise and worship music throughout your day, specifically when you are working through fear.
