I love the peace and quiet of the bathroom as crazy as you think it may sound. Growing up in a brown household, “privacy” was never a concept so I never had a space I called *my own* I guess. But i could sit in the bathroom for an hour uninterrupted in complete silence to just...be. Uninterrupted. All that time on the pot, however, makes me think a lot and I recently came across a tweet that said something about how thoughts and ideas and...well I forget what the tweet said but it was something about having to air them out, sharing your thoughts once in a while for your own good. In an attempt to spend lesser time on the pot thinking to myself, and spend more time sharing them and also talking to my circle exchanging stories and discussing our thoughts, I decided to work on this project as an attempt to talk to people in my life and aggregate their perspectives about real problems and “trendy” topics.

Prem Sylvester and Keerthi Pradaa Balajee went through their respective weight loss journeys only to make some very important observations through the course of it. Listen to them get downright honest and vulnerable as they share experiences, stories, and observations that they have in common (or don’t). They discuss their own journeys with their bodies, public perception of fat people, the lack of inclusive clothing and styles for fat people, fatphobia and bullying, a mental burn book of people that treated them differently post weight loss, the hyperawareness that comes with existing in a fat body, unlearning societal conditioning, the role of family and friends, unrealistic standards of beauty, what the appropriate way to tell someone they look good is and so so much more. They get into some deep and real shit on this episode :-) Stay tuned on Substack, Instagram, and Twitter (@onthepotcast).

To reinforce: !THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A COMEDY EPISODE! But you might giggle 🤭

Both Maya Bakir and Keerthi Pradaa Balajee love comedy and are very afraid of it at the same time. They get raw and honest, joke around, say inappropriate and unladylike shit. Listen to them talk about using humor and comedy as a defense AND coping mechanism growing up with their fair share of childhood trauma, rave about their comic idols (Ilana Glazer, Tina Fey we hope you’re listening), contrast their reactions to internet culture and social media humor taking over their lives, dish about dating as “funny women”, and make this episode range from vines and memes to disparity in perception of gendered comedy. They get into some deep and funny shit on this episode :-) Stay tuned on Substack, Instagram, and Twitter (@onthepotcast).
