On Frame with Eric Miller
New York City FC first team member Eric Miller is also on the Executive Board of the Major League Soccer Players Association. He sat down with Pro Soccer USA's Glenn Crooks and described some of the priorities for the players with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement set to expire before the start of the 2020 season. Miller makes it clear that the players will push for a more flexible salary structure and part of that consideration should be the elimination of both TAM and GAM. “I think that three-letter acronyms are not going to help the league grow any more. It’s time to let teams decide how they’re going to spend their money.” In the past, the MLSPA has been accused of easily giving in to the demands of the league in negotiations. Miller said that will not be the case this time. “it’s the most prepared we’ve ever been, it’s the most organized we’ve ever been and the most unified we’ve ever been as a group. We are prepared for a work stoppage if necessary and that is our biggest bargaining chip.”
