Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Jarvus Cox lived a seemingly normal life as a former captain in the military when he got an early diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, causing him to experience mental and physical symptoms including faded memory. Welcome back, healthy people! Glad to have you back for Part 2 of the Interview with Dr. Sydney Deal. This is my second episode in my series on the SARS-CoV-2 a.k.a. Covid-19. For context going into this episode, please check out part 1 of our interview.

Our Guest for this episode is Dr. Sydney Deal. She graduated magna cum laude from Baylor University with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
In October 2019, she came on staff at Comanche County Medical Center and Doctors Medical Center as a board-certified family medicine physician providing care to patients of all ages in the clinic and hospital. Dr. Deal lives in Comanche with her husband and two young children. She is expecting her third child in June 2021.

About Lauren Brown:

Lauren Brown is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana who attended Indiana University on a full-ride scholarship where she graduated with a double major in biology and neuroscience. She went on to receive two masters degrees before being accepted into medical school. As a current medical student, 12 days away from finishing her 3rd year, she has a goal of helping others in the exact same way that she was saved, by putting shunts in babies’ brains. She's recently enjoyed coloring in her “me time” while also singing and dancing. After being born with Hydrocephalus, she needed a shunt to allow CSF to travel from the brain. With her first brain surgery at just 3 weeks old she was also diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis as a teenager and ended up having a colectomy done.

Dr. Angela Rodgers is a Board-Certified family medicine physician and core faculty member of the Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency Program.
