Off The Record with Aanu - Taking the Ultimate Nigerian Feminist Test
play

01/28/22 • 62 min

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in her 2013 ted talk defined a feminist as a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes, on this episode, Charis and I pick up from that definition, discuss our feminist beliefs and address whether feminism should address male issues like toxic masculinity. We also discuss the danger of having personal convictions in a movement and come to the conclusion that it is going to take collective effort to move forward. (Editor Aanu realizes that we did not cover the topic of female enablers of patriarchy amongst other things, it is a pretty broad topic, till next time so stay tuned.)

Off The Record with Aanu - African or Black?

African or Black?

Off The Record with Aanu

play

02/25/22 • 48 min

Today’s episode is a black history month special! Following the #securethetribe space late January, Lewa and I discuss black identity from an African perspective highlighting the burden placed on black people all over the world. We address whether or not African immigrants should be instrumental to the development of the black society in Western countries. We also discuss the conflict between Africans and Black Westerners particularly African-Americans and the need to tell genuine African and black stories exclusive of the American experience.

The People v. AH.

This episode is straight from the archives. I recorded my thoughts on the public reaction to the Depp v Heard Trial on the 1st of June hours before a verdict was reached by the jury. In today's bonus episode, In this episode, I discuss the social media coverage and smear campaign associated with the trial.
