Now & Center: Entrepreneurial Voices from the Margin
05/11/22 • 2 min
Hello, and welcome to Now & Center: Entrepreneurial Voices from the Margin. I’m your host, Karen Bartlett, and I’d love to share with you the inspiration for Now & Center. We know that the predominant voices in the business world have been privileged, white, cis-het male voices. These voices have created a business culture rooted in transactionalism, extraction, and dehumanization. Now & Center is a space to bring forth a new set of voices in the business world. The time is now to center the voices that have been marginalized. WE are the new voices in business. Join us to learn from a diverse and inclusive community of entrepreneurs who have a wealth of experience and are rewriting the rules for business to center humans, social change, and standing in our authenticity and power.
I’m a longtime educator, an entrepreneurial activist, a business development strategist, a coach, a consultant, and a community organizer. While I wear a lot of hats, I spend the majority of my time working with other entrepreneurial activists; business owners who are not only committed to creating social change through their talents, but to changing the very nature of how business is done in our capitalist culture. I work with business owners who range in how they identify, from women to BIPOC to LGBTQ+ and nuero-divergent. Our work centers on co-creating liberation, freedom, and power, as well as results, in and through their businesses. The best part is that it’s all built on them staying true to their values, commitments, and authenticity.
I’ll be dropping a new episode weekly where you can hear the stories of these amazing business owners. You can hear what it’s really like for them, learn from their struggles, and explore how they’re working to create change in our world.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
