A very timely topic on the show today - women and tesosterone therapy at menopause. Not just a hormone for the guys, testosterone is a crucial part of the HRT picture for women. When we are cycling, we make a huge amount of testosterone, but we don't hear about that as much as we hear about estrogen and progesterone.
I am speaking with Dr. Susan Hardwick-Smith - a gynecologist with a specialty practice in menopause care in Houston, Texas. She is a certified menopause practitioner and the Founder of the Complete Midlife Wellness Center. She is also a podcaster, author and triathlete. Testosterone therapy is helpful for bone and muscle health, moods and mental health and sexual health for men and women! There is some controversy with this topic as the FDA doesn't yet have an approved for women testosterone product! It's not just a male hormone.
