Not In My House
We have a strong love for basketball and the doors that it can open outside of the game itself. We love to give current and former players, coaches, artists, and historians their recognition and the platform they deserve to tell their story and teach our listeners about the game and applying lessons we learn from hoops to everyday life. We don't care for hot takes, we don't care for debates but we do care about giving back to the game and giving people the recognition they deserve for their hard work, dedication, their experiences and their knowledge to give our listeners and ourselves a better understanding of the game, the business, and life beyond hoops. We also like to have have fun! Any Questions? Suggestions? You can email us at [email protected] Much Love to you all! Twitter - @NOTINMYHOUSEpc Instagram- @not_in_my_house_podcast

We promise you don't want to miss this one. Chris Anstey is in the house for an episode filled with fun, inspiring and fascinating stories. You will learn very quickly why Chris is one of Zach's favorite players from that late 90's era!
Anstey was born and raised in Australia. He was an elite tennis player until the age of 17 when he was introduced to basketball. He had to learn the game quickly, but he was eventually selected as the 18th overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers, becoming the very first player to be drafted from Australia's NBL. He spent three years in the NBA and then some time in Russia & Spain. He is a legend in Australia where he was a 3x NBL Champion, 2x NBL MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, 2x Olympian, along with many other accolades. We know you will love Chris just as much as we do and we promise that what you hear in this episode is just a small sample of the amazing stories you can read about in his book, so be sure check out "Tall Tales"!

Eddie Robinson: A Kid From Flint, MI Who Made It (Former NBA Player)
Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
07/21/20 • 76 min
He’s a real one and always keeps it 100. Eddie Robinson is on the Podcast today and we couldn’t be any more excited about it. He’s more than just a kid from Flint Michigan, he’s one of the few who made it out when the odds were very much against him. After dropping out of the 9th grade, without a single game of High School basketball under his belt, Robinson damn near taught himself everything he knew about the game of basketball. He earned his GED and took the Junior College route where it didn’t take long for NBA scouts to notice the potential of this versatile 6’8’’ High-Flyer. You will learn quickly in this episode that nothing came easy for E-Rob. After going undrafted out of Junior College, Robinson was only eligible to play at the Division II College level where he hung 28 a game on those poor kids. You may be thinking to yourself right now, that you have never heard of anybody taking this route to the NBA, and thats because nobody else ever has and you’re just reading the Cliff Notes of his incredible story in this summary.
Robinson went on to play 5 years in the NBA where he was a key contributor to an electric Charlotte Hornets team that was creating a lot of buzz around the league at the time. He also played three seasons with a young Chicago Bulls squad that was trying to figure out the post-Jordan era. His athletic ability and rim-rocking dunks left fans in awe and opponents on the wrong side of a highlight or poster. We learn all about the grind and the obstacles Robinson had to overcome to get to the league, and it is beyond impressive. Head-scratching circumstances may have unexplainably cut his NBA career a few years short, but we are grateful that Robinson doesn’t hold back at all and teaches us more about the politics and business side of the NBA. Eddie had a few other professional stops in the NBA D-League, the NBL of Canada, and even the Big3... and don’t you worry, we learn a secret or two about the Big3.
We had such a great time with Eddie Robinson and I know that this episode will touch you in many different ways. We had a lot of laughs and a few emotional moments learning more about the grind to get out of Flint MI, the Junior College and Division II route, his ground breaking journey to the league, the passing of Bobby Phills, his experience with Jerry Krause and John Paxson, his bizarre exit from the league, life after basketball, and so much more. We can’t thank Eddie Robinson enough for how open, funny, informative, inspiring, and pleasant he was. There is no story like his and honestly there is simply just nobody like Eddie Robinson.
Much Respect! Thanks again Eddie Robinson.
Enjoy!
-Also, special thanks to our guest Co-Host Chad for filling in for Eric today. Pleasure having you on!

Merl Code: Former Clemson Star & Author of "Black Market"
Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
09/11/23 • 66 min
This episode is one that you do NOT want to miss. Merl Code is in the House! The basketball world is not always a fair place for everybody and this episode is a perfect example of why.
Merl Code was one of those players that saw the play happen before it happened. He played with love, passion, joy and made those around him better. He played his college hoops at Clemson and went on to play professionally overseas, including a stint with the Denver Nuggets. He later worked as a sneaker rep for both Nike and Adidas where he would eventually find the game he loved betraying him. Merl dives deep into his basketball journey from start to finish. He shares stories about his recruiting process, Clemson, playing professionally, his time at Nike and Adidas, and his book titled Black Market. Merl also speaks his truth of how the justice system failed, how he ended up spending 5 and a half months in Federal Prison, and what’s next for him and his journey.
We can’t thank Merl Code enough for taking the time to share his story. The basketball world can be a dark place at times and we are beyond thankful to have Merl speak his truth. We know that Merl is going to have a positive impact on whatever he does moving forward.
Be sure to purchase his book Black Market as this episode is just a small sample size of what you will learn from buying the book. Don’t pass on this episode!

The 2020 Year in Review
Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
12/31/20 • 188 min
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Two words to describe this one..."Holy Shit.” We welcome Season 2 and the New Year right by dropping the 2020 Year in Review. Of course we normally talk hoops, but this is the one episode where ANYTHING goes and we cover EVERYTHING. Eric, Zach, Craig and Leo review the whole year of 2020 by month and it is nothing short of wild. Zach drinks bottomless mimosas, Leo slams shitty beers & Craig sips his mystery drinks while Eric tries to steer the ship. We cover everything from the top news stories and events to pop culture, memes, and all the random shit in between in this truly WILD year.
We hope you can look back at 2020 a little differently after listening to this one. The black cloud surrounding this year overshadowed some of the incredibly awesome things that happened, but we won’t let that happen here. We promise you will leave 2020 with plenty of laughs and positive vibes after giving this one a listen. And if you're tuning in on New Years Day then it's the perfect hangover cure.
This was a year to remember, but hopefully we can remember more of the good after this one.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Shoutout Pop Smoke

He also holds the school record for career 3-point percentage (44.6) and is third in free throw percentage (82.5). He was inducted into the Sonoma State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. He also played professionally in Australia before jumping into the coaching world where he is currently the Head Coach at San Fransisco State. Vince shares great stories about Carson High School, David Padgett, Jeff Rowe, Sonoma State, experiences in Australia, Joe Ingles, CJ Massingale, coaching, San Francisco State and MUCH more!
Big thanks to Coach Inglima for taking the time to share his journey in hoops with us today. Jelani Gardner: Former Cal, Pepperdine & Overseas Star
Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
09/06/21 • 60 min
The real hoopers know just how special this one is. However, not all know just how incredible his journey in basketball, life and transformation is. We are blessed to have Jelani Gardner join us for a conversation that will move and motivate you in whole different way than what you’re used to on this podcast.
Jelani Gardner grew up in the Los Angeles area in an incredible era for high school hoops. The 6’6’’ guard from St John Bosco High School dazzled packed gyms with the smooth handles, no-look passes, jaw-dropping dunks, and undeniable passion, love and desire for the game. After working his way to being the number one ranked player in California, Gardner was selected to the McDonald’s All-American game and played at both Cal and Pepperdine. You may have wondered why Gardner was not in the NBA. The average person would look at Gardner and see a physical speciman who seems perfectly fit and healthy to be an NBA star. Gardner was diagnosed with a kidney disease during his college career, playing through this whole college and pro career with his kidneys working at 40 percent. Unable to pass an NBA physical, he still managed to have an incredible career playing overseas even after a kidney transplant. The desire and will it took on day to day basis is one of the most incredible feats we have ever heard on this podcast and we know you will have a whole new respect for Gardner, his game, his desire and overall view on life. His commitment to the game, his faith, his family and giving back to the youth speaks volumes of the person he is today.
Kind of like watching Jelani throwing over-the-head passes or skying high for a dunk on a fastbreak on the court, this is one of those episodes where you just shake your head in disbelief. He is without a doubt a fighter and true warrior both on and off the court. This won’t be the last time you hear about Gardner as his kids have serious game too! Keep an eye out for the Gardner brothers. They have some incredible guidance from their pops so we have a feeling that you’re all in for a treat!
Thank you Jelani Gardner!

Lanard Copeland: Former NBA Player & NBL Legend
Not In My House (A Basketball Podcast)
09/13/21 • 74 min
We got an Australian Basketball legend joining us today. We have former NBA and NBL player Lanard Copeland in the house! He is one of the NBL’s great high-flyers and automatic scorers and he has an inspiring journey that is like no other. Trust us!
Lanard Copeland was cut every single year from his high school team. In fact, the very first jersey that he ever wore was his first year of college basketball at Georgia State. After not being selected in the 1989 NBA Draft, Copeland again had to prove that he belonged on the basketball court. He worked his way into the NBA where he played 2 years in the NBA for the 76ers and Clippers. Copeland continued his basketball career in the NBL where he had a Hall of Fame career that included 5 All Star appearances, 2 NBL Championships, a Grand Finals MVP and his number 21 being retired. Not bad for a guy who was cut from his high school team. Copeland shares great stories about growing up in ATL, Georgia State, Willie Brown, journey to NBA, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, Rick Mahorn, Hersey Hawkins, Michael Jordan, Larry Johnson, Andrew Gaze, growth of NBL and MUCH more.
This was truly an honor to learn more about Copeland’s basketball journey today. His story is one that will help and inspire a lot of young athletes who may have been cut from their teams but still have a deep love and passion for the game. This is the ultimate success story from never wearing a jersey until college to raising a jersey to rafters. We know you’re going to love this one!
Thank you Lanard Copeland!
