Israel Beer Josaphat was originally a bank clerk. However, in 1849, he initiated a prototype news service in Paris, using electric telegraphy and carrier pigeons in his network. Amazing! This same 'Israel' later changed his name to Paul Julius von Reuter and even today, this ‘Reuters International News Agency’ is still one of the largest and probably the most prestigious of them all.
