Standing to be the next Mayor of London, Susan Hall AM has had a history of electoral success, and a pretty varied career. She joins us this week to talk about her plans for London and what she intends to do to improve the lives of LGBT+ people across the city. As well as talking about how she got to where she is now, we ask her for her thoughts on the current state of the protests across London.

We're recording live from the Conservative Party Conference 2023 in Manchester, and Albie speaks to Alicia Kearns MP, Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton since the 2019 general election. She is currently the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, and was the first ever woman to be elected to the position. Alicia also hosts the China Research Group, to promote debate and fresh thinking about how Britain should respond to the rise of China. She talks about conversion therapy following rumours that the government is planning to drop a ban on the practise, and talks about how being a woman in politics is an interesting journey.

This week we’re going to play you the interview that Albie did with chairman of the London assembly Andrew Boff, who you might now know as the quiet heckler from party conference the other week. We had caught up with him shortly before that all happened, and Andrew has a broad church of opinions. Albie asks him what it was like being a gay tory in the Thatcher years as he’s been going to conference every year for almost 50 years now. He talks about what working with Boris was like vs what working with Sadiq Khan is like, and he has some pretty strong thoughts on the Home Secretary’s controversial comments on asylum seekers claiming to be gay to get into the country, and weighs in on Equalities Minister, Kemi Badenoch.
